  • Saturday 8/7 Spot Plays

    YTD: +$158.75

I found eight races I really like around the country and these are my top four. As always, the size of the bet indicates the strength of the play.

NOTE: Joel Rosario, riding as well as anybody in the country right now, is on both of my horses at Mountaineer.

    Arlington Park Race 1
Bet $12 to win and place on #4 Cure (9-5 program odds)

Mountaineer Park Race 2 West Virginia Chairman's Cup
Bet $8 to win place and show on #7 Love's Strong Heart (8-1)

Mountaineer Park Race 7 West Virginia Governors Cup
Bet $10 to win place and show on #3 Demarcation (4-1)

    Saratoga Race 8
Bet $18 to win and place on #4 Snow Top Mountain (5-2)

In the big races, Quality Road is the likely winner of the Whitney but the odds will be way too low. I lean to #1 Pica Slew in the Test but she may fall victim to a hot pace. Zenyatta may be a tad vulnerable at Del Mar where she barely won last year; #6 Rinterval coming out of a strong sprint may try to go wire to wire. (no bets on any of these)

        Recap

A small loss on the day that could have been a winner.

My biggest bet, Snow Top Mountain, rallied furiously but missed by a neck at 9-5, paying 3.30 to place.

Demarcation won rather easily, paying 7.40, 3.60 and 3.80.

        The other two ran terribly.

        Wagered: $114
        Caashed: $103.70
        Loss: -$10.30

        YTD: +$148.45

Wasn't on-line until now. For what it's worth, two of the other four one. One won at 4-1 at Mountaineer; the other at 3-2 at Delaware. I had a horse that finished third on Ellis and the pacesetter (#1) who spit it out in The Test. I made small bets on them.

The four I posted I felt more strongly about.
