Going to keep track of my record here at Del Mar and see how I do.
Maiden Claimers are going 5.5 furlongs on the poly track. Early speed has been deadly at this distance so far this meet. 1st timers have had it tough here in the past at this distance in Maiden Claiming races as they have only won 17/66 races. That leaves us with #1,4,5,7,9 which have run. None of these runners have even ran close to par for this level. #1 has shown speed in here 3 last races but fades badly everytime. Negatives are M. Garcia jumps off and the trainer is terrible. No thanks. #5 is a merry-go-round horse and has shown nothing. Can't play it. #7 Hector jumped up to a straight maiden race last out and now drops back down to here friends. She has shown some speed and is definetley a contender, but with Valdez in the irons (0/16 this meet) and 4/1 ML seems a bit short. #9 is the favorite and has shown some ability up North in the minor leagues, but I don't like playing horses shipping from the minor leagues up to the majors, especially at a 5/2 ML. Bejarano does jump on board althought. #4 Si Es Verdad draws my interest at 12/1 ML. In her only career start she drew the rail which is brutal on 1st timers, she did show a good amount of early speed in here debut and then tired. She drops down one class and get a nice jockey upgrade to a underrated rider in Reyes. If she gets a good start and improves off her debut, she can win this against a very mediocre group.
