Heading to Saratoga Tomorrow

Just spent a few days in Cooperstown and me and the my girl are heading to Saratoga in the morning for 3 days.


Any tips tricks or advice would be greatly appreciated.



All horse selections for the card from Thursday thru Saturday would be welcome as well.

tips for the track? sure depending on what you want to do. As far as places to go. Hit Siro's and Gaffneys. Also if you are a scotch drinker for sure go to 9 maple. thats the name of the place and its located (obviously) on 9 maple ave. if you like fried chicken go to Hattie's its famous it was on Throw down with bobby flay. Also check out the parting glass. Great spot.

Also go to Esperanto's and order a "dough boy" and report back to me.

Free advice dont bother going to the racino @ the harness track. it is run by the state of ny and the slots dont pay shit!!!!


also you are aloud to bring food and drinks into the track if you arent planning on sitting in grandstand or clubhouse. Just dont bring glass bottles.

Friday sat and sunday will be packed if you arent sitting in grandstand or clubhouse my suggestion would be to get there 2hrs early to find a spot to sit.

also a great spot for a nice dinner is the Inn at Longfellows.

SPAC is a great venue to see a show. I am not into orchestra music but the philadelphia orchestra is going to be there this weekend. if that is something you or the mrs would like to see or are into i'm sure it will be good.

also take a ride threw the Avenue of the pines.

it is going to be very busy downtown all weekend like always in august. Weather is going to be nice. Don't bother buying the "pink sheets" the bums try to sell on the street outside the track. They don't know anymore than you do about picking horses.

Use the San machines instead of going to teller/person to place your bet. all you need to do is buy a voucher and then use the san machines which are automated and touch screen to place bets. lines are far shorter than going to the window to talk to a person. watch out for the "all in" button on the machines though....lol

The hall of fame is a good time but for a sport that's been around 100+ years it seems like they should have more stuff on display. One highlight is always the Abbot and Costello "Who's on first" routine which is showed on continual loop. They have also added sections for the old Negro leagues as well as a Latino/Caribbean area since my last trip.

The town itself is nice as it combines an old time Americana feel along with an upstate lake front resort.

One of my KY guys loves Quality Road over an outclassed field in the Whitney... And 2 of them love Zenyatta on Saturday at DelMar if it pays any thing over $2.20.
