Some Preakness Thoughts

Had a monster sized Kentucky Derby with winners all around.

Hope to keep the momentum going into Pimlico.

I will make more comments as the day approaches, and then post my plays on the Friday before, but just to get things started;

Icebox - won't be running, had a great big closing kick at Churchill ( just as predicted ) and will be running down the stretch at Belmont, you can be sure of that, loved this horse in the Derby and will be pounding it in a few weeks

Super Saver - Calvin and Super made me ' big bucks ' and will be one of my plays

Lookin at Lucky - had a horrible run and still finished 6th..... will have it much easier in the Preakness

Caracortado - could be an interesting choice


The Preakness does not normally pay like the Derby and Belmont, and normally the faves come in, but I will be looking for some dogs and some exotics as always..

- Schoolyard Dreams
----- had a not so great Wood, but before that not too bad

- Hurricane Ike----- could be the wise guy horse

- A Little Warm
----- only one race under his belt over a mile ???

- Caracortado
----- interesting colt

- Pleasant Prince
----- seems to be going backwards with his last two outings

I had the Derby winners as well, Super Saver $20wps, $2 exacta, and a $1 Tri.

OK, now that the post positions have been drawn let's look at the field....

1.) Aikenite
----- don’t see much of a run in this one

2.) Schoolyard Dreams
----- definitely like this colt, his workouts have been great recently, bullet after bullet.... will be in all of my plays

3.) Pleasant Prince
----- poor beyer figures , should not be in the running

4.) Northern Giant
----- gave way in Ark Derby last time out...seems to be going backwards

5.) Yawanna Twist
----- is 4/4 and seems to be moving forward, will keep in all exotics

6.) Jackson Bend
----- Zito horse, love his other colt Icebox, but this one may fire, but seems not to like the long distances.... will be in plays though, because of Zito

7.) Lookin at Lucky
----- had a horrible run the Derby, coming out of the 1 post, and having all of that slop thrown at him. And he still was able to finish 6th, interesting, will be one of the colts that will be in the money guaranteed...

8.) Super Saver
----- hats off to this colt and to Calvin Borel..... thanks for the great ride, would love to see him win this, and challenge for the crown, should also be one of the colts in the money

9.) Caracortado
----- did not make the top twenty to run in the derby, don’t know what to do with him yet..

10.) Paddy O Prado
----- gutsy run at Churchill, nice gray colt, will be in all of my plays

11.) First Dude
----- go back to Alaska, should be in the bottom half in the end ( will be in wheels though, see comments below )...

12.) Dublin
----- Lucas’ colt, should run better than he did two weeks ago.....


I will have all of my plays on Friday, had a great K Derby and hope to contnue the run. The Preakness is not known for any big payouts, and mostly a chalk race, but will try to hit some exotics..

Some comments about the above comments.... although I may state and say that a horse does not have a chance or whatever, if I say that I am playing a "Wheel ", that will include "All" other horses.

I will cover all angles when I play a wheel, so that I will not be burned by some dog crossing the finish line in 3rd or 4th place... That is what you would always want to do, don't lose a big payout by not including "all" .

Am looking forward to the Belmont, but let's bring this one home also...

If I had a dollar for every poster who had a good streak and said I'm leaving....well I'd still be broke, ugly, and hung like a field mouse, but I'm still funny?? (That sucks JC) Anyway thanks for the horse picks 11, but just have fun and share your picks or leave without the drama. JMO
