YTD: +$13.50 (based on $50-100 per play)
I found seven I like today and I'm using the top five as rated plays. The strongest ones will be the ones with the biggest wagers as listed.
Arlington Park Race 3 Play #9 Gold in the Grass
Bet $35 to win and place
This horse makes its first start of the year dropping in class in a cheap 5K claimer. The field is terrible, so I'm not worried about the outside post position.
Arlington Park Race 10 Gr. 2 American Derby Play #1 Blue Exit
Bet $30 to win and place
This horse just won a listed stakes in France and is bred to get the 1 3/16 of this race. The horse has not been off the board and French grass races are a lot tougher than those in America.
Delaware Park Race 7 Play #3 Five Steps
Bet $40 to win and place
My horse has won four of his last five races and makes his second start of the year in this listed stakes. He should stalk just behind the leaderrs and has a big closing kick. He's 13-for-16 win or place in his career, making him perfect for the type of wager I make in these plays.
Delaware Park Race 8 Gr. 2 Delaware Oaks Play #7 She's All Eltish
Bet $25 to win and place
This is a good spot to try to beat Proud Spell, coming back on short rest after being upset in a Grade I at Belmont. If Proud Spell scratches, the field is even softer. This horse is coming off a two month layoff after a troubled second in the Black Eyed Susan. I look for her trainer, Marty Wolfson, to win as many as four graded stakes today.
Calder Race 10 Gr. 2 Smile Sprint Play #9 Rockerfeller
Bet $25 to win and place
Bet $10 exacta box #1 Man of Danger with #9 Rockerfeller
There should be a lot of pace in this race and my horse, one of those Marty Wolfson runners I reference above, should get a good stalking trip and first run over heavily favored Benny the Bull. I look for that one to bounce here after a tough comeback win. I'm boxing Rockerfeller with the best of the speed horses.
Opinions only:
Belmont Race 6---I like #3 Captain Backfire first time on the turf
Monmouth Race 8---I like #10 Baron Von Tap but the lousy post keeps me from making him a full play
