How does the post selection work?

I'm not 100% sure, but I think there is a drawing where the connections of the horse receive a number. So the connections who receive the 1st drawing number get to choose which post they want.

I'm guessing the connections of Big Brown had last choice.

I thought I saw Big Brown had 16th choice. That's why I was wondering why he would choose the outside if there were 4 other slots open.

I like that 8 spot for Visionaire!

Who the fuck would name their horse Gayego, this horse is getting all the rainbow money!
Nothing is as far away as one minute ago.

I was wondering what the fuck Kazdog was talking about when he said he was unloading on Gayego earlier today

Big Brown took the very outside so he doesn't have to worry about horses on both sides.

His trainer/owner believe he's the best, ballsy call taking the very outside. If he wins, its a great move, if he loses, has many outs built in.

                  Should be interesting!!

Like any race the names of the horses are in a box and they draw the names and that determains Post Position.

However, in the Kentucky derby, the names are just the order in which they get to choose what post they want.

This is only the 11th year they did the draw this way.

Big Brown got to decide late. He has enough speed to get inside. I am not a big believer in letting post position decide how you will bet the race. Over seas they get 20+ fields all the time and you get outside posts winning. One of my favorite angles to play are betting horses that draw in from the AE list with a PP of 13 and higher. Today the 13, 14, and 15 drew in in the last at Belmont and the finish came 13-14-15 in that order. There is plenty of time to establish position.

REMEMBER: Speed doesn't win the DERBY and Big Brown is the speed. Winners come from off the pace or deep closers. Keyed Entry was in the lead at the top of the streatch 2 years ago and finished dead last. Hard Spun probably has the best deryby finish that I can remembe and have the lead at the top of the stretch.

He got the 1st win at gulfstream from the 12 whole in a mile and 1/8 race. who's to say he won't be the first to win from the 20. Streaks are ment to be broken. I however didn't like him be4 the draw, and i still don't like him as the fav.

Richie: [after Gus hits a homerun] Wow and he did it without steroids.
                    Clark: What's steroids?
Richie: Something that makes your pee-pee smaller.
Clark: There must be steroids in macaroni!
