  • Saturday 4/12 Spot Plays

YTD: +$808 (based on betting between $50 and $100 per race)

I made a monster score last week when the longshots I picked in the Illinois Derby ran 1-2. Just two plays today and a couple of "opinions."

Aqueduct Race 3 Play entry #1/1A Saint Barr/Value Player
This play is good if either horse or both horses run. This is an entry from Dutrow who is unstoppable right now. Saint Barr is the lone speed in this 1X allowance and Value Player is the best closer. There's only one other horse in this race that can run at all.

Keeneland Race 8 Gr. II Commonwealth Play #9 Doppio
This is a seven furlong stakes on Keeneland's polytrack where closers have been dominating. Doppio has won three in a row on Santa Anita's artificial track and the trainer is winning with everything she's entering. Doppio's last win (in a $ allowance race) was awesome as he was blocked in the stretch and got up to win anyway. We could get 6-1 because of the presence of two good Frankel horses.

    Opinions only:
#12 Visionaire in the Blue Grass Stakes at Keeneland (5-1 or so)
#6 Cross The Atlantic in the 4th at Aqueduct (likely 3-1)
#9 Inny in the 3rd at Keeneland (the favorite)

I neglected to post the wager for my picks

Both should be played at $50 to win and place.

Richie: [after Gus hits a homerun] Wow and he did it without steroids.
              Clark: What's steroids?
Richie: Something that makes your pee-pee smaller.
Clark: There must be steroids in macaroni!
