I'm very short on time this morning and I'll update the record---which is in a brutal slump at the moment----next week.
I did want to get these up, though.
Saratoga Race 3 Play #9 Vaunt
This horse, a miler at best, lost as the favorite last out in the Arlington Classic at a 1 1/16. He'll like the turnback to a mile. Mott is hot and Gomez rides.
Ellis Park Race 10 Claiming Crown Jewel Play #3 Ricardo A
Of all the claimers in Contessa's barn right now, this is the only one he ships in for any of the Claiming Crown races. This horse is coming off a brief nine week layuoff after running very well in the winter and spring at Belmont, a tougher circuit than those of most of the other runners in here. This is an unusally soft field for this race witrh most of the runners no better than 40,000 claimers. 4-1 is possible here.
Mountaineer Race 8 Gr. III West Virginia Derby Play #7 Song of Navarone
This horse romped in the $600,000 race for three year olds at Sunland Park in March and would have been the likely favorite for the Santa Anita Derby had he not been injured in his win. He comes off the five month layoff but has far more ability than anything erlse in here and he's the lone speed. Huge workouts at Del Mar for this. Also consider using him in an exacta box with #3 Moyer's Pond. Morning line on my pick is 12-1; that's insane, but even 5-1 would be a gift.
