  • I am so pissed

We are gonna be in Florida from March 24 till April 3

The Florida Derby at Gulfstream Park is March 31st.

My wife won't let me take the 3 hour drive from Orlando (Kissimmee actually) to Hallendale that day.

What it is really is that she won't go with me and she knows I won't do it myself.

Any good shopping in the area that I should know about?
    Good Luck to everyone

Richie: [after Gus hits a homerun] Wow and he did it without steroids.
    Clark: What's steroids?
Richie: Something that makes your pee-pee smaller.
Clark: There must be steroids in macaroni!

      "My Wife Won't let me"?

Grow a sack and just tell her you are going. If you don't want to go alone, put on the pants in the family and tell her to get her ASS in the car because she IS Going with you.

      Ball up man!!!

The problem is that she would have to watch/keep in eye on/entertain MY daughter. She's not the mother.

On big event days at the tracks there are usually kid-themed events... you could check out the Gulfstream website or call the general info number and find out either the days events or some other local attractions. You would have to figure that the people working there should be fairly local.

Either that or do what I do with my wife... "but honey, I went shopping for that

I made a little money today at the OTB (even though when I tell her I went she'll be pissed). I hit the 1st 4 races Tris and Exactas at Gulfstream.

I actually realized that Tampa Bay Downs is only 1 hour away so maybe I can talk her into going there. I would rather go to GS though for the Stakes racing.

Oh well, I got 2 weeks. She'll change her mind, she always does,.

I've been to TBD and it's a pretty nice track. Also keep in mind that most the dog tracks (Sanford /Orlando is closest to you) also carry horse racing. TBD is out in the sticks with nothing much else around. I suggest Derby Lane right on the bay (Very family friendly) in ST. Pete. With Sunken Gardens right down the road and a state park less than a 1/4 mile from the track. Something for you and the family to do in the Tampa Bay area.

                  Lovedoc,

A lot... after my hiatus from the world of horse racing, I will be back in action this summer (after I take my NJ PE Exam in April and then drink for a whole month).

Month to go until the test... after that it is party time and time to get seriously back into the ponies.

Work should be slowing down for a few weeks as well.

Gulfstream Park now has a casino with Vegas style slots. They have restaraunts & may have other events going on. There are alot of places to shop in the area. You could make reservations for her at the spa at the Diplomat hotel which is not far from Gulfstream. The Hollywood Prime Steakhouse in the hotel is REALLY GOOD. The Sawgrass Mills **** is not far either. It's a mile long Outlet ****, but they have some better name stores like a Coach, Burberry etc. If your kids are under 12 they could spend the day at Wannado City which is also in the ****. Kids play as if they have a proffession (firefighter, cops doctors etc) She could eat at the Grand Lux Cafe (same as in the Venetian Hotel in Vegas).
