KENNETT SQUARE, Pa. - Kentucky Derby winner Barbaro was euthanized Monday morning after complications from his breakdown at the Preakness last May.

"We just reached a point where it was going to be difficult for him to go on without pain," co-owner Roy Jackson said. "It was the right decision, it was the right thing to do. We said all along if there was a situation where it would become more difficult for him then it would be time."

smartest move ever. letting that horse simply live on in great pain is just plain ignorant.

I am so glad to finally see them make this discision. It is very sad b/c he could have been a great horse had he not broke his leg.

The owners finally smartened up and ended his suffering.
        Good Luck to everyone

Richie: [after Gus hits a homerun] Wow and he did it without steroids.
        Clark: What's steroids?
Richie: Something that makes your pee-pee smaller.
Clark: There must be steroids in macaroni!

I think the horse was on pain medication. Still not sure why with today's medicine horses that break a leg can't be fixed so at least they can live.
