  • Santa Anita 8th

    In today's 8th I like 8th race are 14-12-11-9

The 12 has been scratched so I made some adjustments. This looks to be a fairly contentious affair. It is a large field, and the possibility of traffic problems could complicate things for some of the serious contenders in here. I'll hope one of my choices wins it but I'm going to include a few more runners underneath in my exacta.

    The Play:

    9-11-14/6-8-9-11-13-14 = $15

Yes this seems like alot of horses, but hopefully one of the larger combinations comes in to more than compensate for the $15 outlay. Good luck and Happy New Year!
    MLB (2014): (3-4) -.9 units

    Weazel...

I'm looking at the past charts from the last couple days....is Santa Anita a fast track? The speed figures I'm seeing looks like they are running really really fast the past since it opened for the meet.

Just wondering if that's the norm there or not.

Thanks for the info ahead of time,
    john

My two cents Rook, all Cali tracks run fast. The furrows are not as deep as your east coast tracks, thus the tracks are very hard surface (like a highway) and speed does very well here. Unlike the east coast inside post speed I feel is not as important, outside speed does just as well. That is why Cali shippers put up some amazing times in Cali, but when hitting east coast tracks such as Belmont or Aqueduct (deep furrow tracks) they do not always fare as well. Although some times that is not the case depending upon the class of the horse. In Cali you will see fast horses that have subpar breeding take on the big dogs and win. An example of this is Lava Man and his success in Cali being I believe a 40K claimer horse but yet beating horses that cost over a million to breed.

My 2 cents. Oriental Hawn should also have some insight here as he looks at all the Cali tracks

        Thanks Bill...

In trying to look at PP's and find some key races, I see a lot of very fast times there in Santa Anita...1-2 seconds faster then a normal "fast race" so I was wondering if it was my math or if this was the norm.

Gonna keep tracking and see how this week goes as well before really digging deep.

Thanks again for the two cents. Hold for your change!
