A quinella is like an exacta but you win as long as you have the 1st and 2nd place horses. You dont need to box them like an exacta. If the race comes 5-4 and you have a 4-5 quinella you win. If you had a 4-5 exacta you would lose because it came 5-4. Hope this helps.
