  • Saturday 9/16 spot plays

Last week, I somehow managed to title my thread "9/16 spot plays." Not surprisingly after that screw-up, I had a losing day with one win, one second and one third out of three selections. Well, it finally IS 9/16 so I'm ready!

YTD: +$199.50 !! (based on only $10 to win and place on all selections)

    38 plays

    14 wins
    13 seconds
    2 thirds
    9 off the board

Laurel Park Race 2 Play #5 Clifton Park
Pick is good for turf OR dirt.
This is a small stakes for two-year old Maryland breds and my pick is a maiden trying to win a stakes. But this is only his second career start and he almost wired the field at Saratoga in his career debut. Straight maidens at Saratoga are tons better than Maryland breds so this is actually a huge class drop. Plus, the race is a full furlong shorter so he should have no trouble hanging on. Trainer used to be a top California guy and he specializes in grass horses.

Fairplex Park Race 10 Play #5 Indian Chant
This horse just missed in a Del Mar starter allowance for horses that broke maidens for 40K claiming or less. This race is restricted to 25K maiden claiming winners and is at a lesser track so it's a decent drop. Tactical speed is huge at Fairplex and this horse has lots of it and can win from on the pace or just off it. Two works over this track since his last race.

Play both at equal amounts to win and place.
