Bill, my boss wagers a little different from the typical every now and then horse player. What i mean by that is he is not looking for the 30-1 shot to have 20 and 20 on. He bets a lot of part wheel trifectas. LIKE

The 1-3
with the 1-3
with the 2-4-5-7
He also bets a lot of exacta's for example like a 50 dollar box on some shorter paying horses. Like a 3-1 and a 9-2. Most people dont want to lose a hundred dollars on an exacta cause they are hard to hit. But 2 dollars to win on a exacta that i just showed pays 25- 30 dollars, but when you have that25 times thats some change. He makes money at it every year, with 90% of his wagers being exacta's and trifecta part wheels. The way he bets is not for everybody but it works for him

Totally understand, to each their own when it comes to philosophy and of course amount, but the style your boss plays is very much like the exotic part wheels that I do, of course I play them light and save my higher amount bets for WP bets, but that is because I have an overspending wife and 4 somewhat spoiled children. It all comes down to one thing though, picking A winner. You have to pick 1 horse out of 6 to 14 horse fields, and that horse must win. Then again I know a lot of show bettors who have success as well. So once again different styles. That is the fun of it. I have only been at it like 8 years or so, so I am really a rookie.
