Also its been proven that on a percentage basis the people with middle and lower class incomes donate more money to charities then the rich. Every rich person doesnt donate like bill gates and in fact most rich people are very greedy ith their money, thats why i said on an income based percentage, the rich give way less then the other classes.
You mention my firefighter job as being some over paid career with this cushy pension. Fact is i made a hell of lot more money when i was working construction, some years upwards of 100k, but i wanted to help people so left the construction field. Everything in life isnt about money.
Also i find it insulting, when people make firefighing as some kind of cake walk job. Its the second most stressful job in the world only the President of The United States has a more stressful job. That stat comes off the discoverey channel.
Also my career got ended because of a neck injury, which required a titanium cage put in where my disc was and i will require future surgeries. So please dont insult me like we skate thru our jobs and then get some cushy pension, because the last time i checked i have never seen a salesman have his career ended due to a neck injury, that is unless he fell asleep at his desk and then fell out of his chair.
my my my....you seem like a nice guy....but quite defensive....i never said you made a boatload of money.....i do not begrudge any person to get the best deal possible and i respect your profession....but you my friend made my point for me.....ah ha!!! what will change society is fiscal responsibility...and what will change fiscal responsibility is people having to live within their means......because if we can not compete on a global level many of the good jobs will leave......i know in my neighborhood all the big homes are now being moved into by indians......Coming over here and dominating their fields......also the asians.....They have paid the price in terms of education and living within their means.....until they get americanized that is....

So society will change when they are forced to when they can not ante up anymore...Remember much of this boom is financed by increased housing values which many folks have borrowed against.......For every action in life their is a reaction.......and consequences.....

The neck thing sucks...i have had low back surgery (broke it) and it is no picnic...I wish you well...Seems like your heart is in the right place....

Also i did not say all rich people donate.....I just listed that as 1 way they spend in the community....When i was in the awards business i sponsored about 25 teams per year...and it was not cheap...and i never broke even on it...>I just remembered as a kid and i always swore i would sponsor if i did well!!!

I agree there should be campaign contribution limits, and some sort of oversight into financing of campaigns. But do you honestly think the same people who should be watched are going to vote to be watched? Should happen, but NEVER will.

Where did tony mention anything about a cushy firefighter job? If anyone said that they would indeed be wrong. I wouldn't want to drag my ass into a burning building.

Would change in a heartbeat if they were able to get their cut. NO problems with state run lotteries b/c they are getting theirs. If they come up with a way to make it legal/taxable here, would be done in a hearbeat.

If he's in an area that doesn't have a lot of jobs in that field, move or adapt in another business. If he's been screwed over for 10 years, isn't he partially to blame for staying with them and bitching about it?
LOL move or adapt to a another business? You want someone that at the time was in their 40's to do that? What go straight to college and keep a family going....bs. As for the field you're correct its small so it would mean moving again. However, things have changed now as he's no longer with that company since they decided to do away with the department he was in and outsource the work at $35 per hour. The company he works for now knows he's good at what he does and is paying him at least a decent wage. He should be making a hell of a lot more though IMO as he saved them tens of thousands of dollars every month by catching mistakes. If they had listened to him they wouldn't have lost $13k just recently though.

Like Tony said, you just want to argue and bash Republicans, when it hasn't even been mentioned in this thread. Whine, whine, whine.
                            What's the matter can't answer the ?

                            • Winner,
putting the high taxes on the companies making products overseas, would make the companies realize its actually cheaper and would move all their factories back here and hire American workers again.
You know the problem with most business owners, they are just greedy friggin pigs who want to make all the money at the expense of other people. Most of you would love to pay people $1 a day, so you could reap all the profits and enjoy a bigger lifestyle.
And as far as the big corporations, they spend years making and stealing huge chunks of cash, then they go belly up and want to blame the worker for all the problems of the company.
Yeah couldnt be the huge pay checks the ceo's and shareholders were taking out of the company, nope its that worker on the floor who caused all the problems.
That arguement is getting real old in todays world, you rich guys have been using it for way to long now.

So my point is, he has marketable skills and if he chose to do so, could have moved to make more money. I realize there is no cookie-cutter way for things to get done, nor does it apply to everyone. But starting a consulting business, asking for more money, lining up possibly another job are/were at least "options." He chose to stay with the company. But he at least bettered himself and his skill base to open up his options.
