This makes no sense. The top 1% of taxpayers pay more than their fair share. If they pay the most, they should benefit the most. If you give a 5% tax cut to someone who makes $30K and someone who makes $3,000,000 who gets the bigger break? They both respectively received a 5% tax cut. To make it fair would you give a 5% to the guy who makes $30K and 0.005% to the other guy just to make it fair? As I have said a couple of times already, unless they bury the tax break in their backyard, it makes it's way into the economy and could only help spur growth. Even if it sits in the bank at 1%, the bank uses that money to lend to new homeowners, small businesses, etc... which helps the economy expand. It's one big cycle. I'm not saying that every rich taxpayer would jump into equities, but no matter what they do it is money that is injected into the economy in one way or another and not sent off to Washington.

My guess is you own your own business and thats why you think workers dont deserve a raise.
Because if you work for a company, am sure in 7 years you and your fellow workers have gotton a raise and if so why did you take it? What makes you deserve a raise over a minimum wage worker?
Your comment about why the minimum wage is what it is because the government says thats what it should be, could be one of the stuipdiest comments i have ever read. Duhhhhhhhhhh, no kidding the government tells us what its going to be, but who is really telling the government what they want it to be? Friggin big business is, thats who. The politicians are just passing the laws that they want passed, which help their profits.
7 years ago the minimum wage worker working 40 hours a week at 5.15 an hour earned 206 bucks for the week.
Today he is still earning the same 206 bucks, only theres a big difference that 206 bucks is no longer worth 206 bucks, its probably only worth 150 or less. So really in all honesty how can you sit here and say, to bad thats what he deserves to make. The minimum wage workers pay has basically gone down.
Tomorrow why dont you go into your bosses office and tell him you want to take a cut in pay, for the good of the company.
I know exactly why alot of you have the thoughts you do about this, its because you arent a minimum wage worker and probably will never have to be in that spot, but am sure if you were, each and every one of you would be here singing a way differnt tune.
Some of you need to learn the phrase do onto others as you would do onto yourself.

cd....i do not understand how you can deny the laws of economics....You keep hitting us with these conspiracy theories.........The market sets the price in a free market system......I think the wage should be raised to $7ish myself....but not for the reasons you say......

Big business is not all bad......It employs alot of people and provides great livings for people as well......They also pay huge taxes and keep our tax bases down.....

Why not give people a cut out of your pension??? Would you be willing to do that??/Thats what you are asking small busines to do on your behalf.....I always laugh at how civil servants are always so willing to cut into my pay, but turn into the cheapest mother fuckers when it comes to theirs....
        ha ha!!!

Bottom line is that we will never agree....period.....

are you in business to make money???

Donate money? You have to be freaking kidding me. So a few well known people donate money for prestige and some for the real reason. Most rich don't donate money.

The gov't always spends money on stupid shit and always will. They could have fixed the damns pre-Katrina but didn't want to spend the money now its costing a shit load more. And we always here about the $500 toilet seat etc. which by the way gets contracted out by the Politician to his buddy.

If someone doesn't like their lot in life, then change it. Get more training, go to school, intern, do whatever it takes. Not stand there and wait for the govt to give you something, or wait for a business to give you something. Add value to your company, and you should be rewarded. If skills are required for a better paying job, then get them. Does everyone get a raise based on inflation? Nope. Does everyone making minimun wage working a cash register deserve yearly raises tied to inflation? Nope.

Soaking them, you are absolutely right, does no good. They pay more than their fair share. And while giving a couple of hundred dollars back to folks in the lower middle lower class may mean alot to them on a personal level, it does not compare with the economic impact as a whole when millions of dollars are freed up due to tax breaks and are invested as such. Some people just don't get it.
And you pay your employees minimum wage?

Could you explain that further on how I'm wrong, or are you just another person with "feelings" but not that common sense most people lack?

You obviously are an entrepenurial (sp) person to have started this site. Also, you have banner ads for advertising to recoup your (or some) of your expenses. If you decided to start charging people, the market would dictate that price, if any, that you receive. If too high, people will jet. If just right, people will pay. The market should decide. But if you had a staff, and the govt forced you to pay more to people, how would you deal with it? Either lay people off, charge more for subscriptions or ads, or make less money yourself. Free market should dictate all of it.
If I had to charge most would leave as they want shit for free. Just like the service plays.
