I have to believe Carolina is going to get the win. Aside form averages and their overall ability, Ottawa just isn’t that good a team.
The odds are a little high for Carolina, perhaps sports books are trying to encourage more money on Ottawa? Whatever the case, don’t be tempted to take Ottawa. This is a real "chalk" play but I just hate the -1.5 play which is probably the play here but I will take the -240 here.

Boston is one of the best teams in the NHL, and the last season’s Stanley Cup runners-up know how to respond to a negative run. The fourth defeat in a row is out of the question for the Bruins, and I am backing their best player so far, David Pastrnak, to bounce back from a forgettable display against Philadelphia and lead his team to the victory. The Bruins’ biggest weapon is powerplay, and they lead the NHL in that segment. Even though the Panthers are not bad when it comes to the penalty kill, every shorthanded situation will be a problem for the visitors. They were close against the Flyers to snap the losing streak, and this time around, the Bruins will make no mistakes.

Arizona is going to play their second game of a back to back and their third game in four nights here. That is clearly going to take a toll on the Coyotes who could be lugging around some heavy legs in this contest. St. Louis has won seven straight games and they had two days off before this one. Binnington continues to be a strong presence in net and the Blues have been excellent in the defensive end of the ice. The Blues are at home and they have a little rest to work with in their favor. Give St. Louis the advantage here as they skate off with the win.

The Rangers have played well of late but they are going to have their hands full in this one. Tampa Bay is playing solid hockey and has momentum after back to back wins over Buffalo in Sweden. The Lightning is starting to get secondary scoring to contribute, which makes them that much more dangerous. McElhinney has stabilized the goaltending as it gives a solid option when Vasilevskiy needs a night off. New York has their work cut out for them here and it’s going to take a big effort from Georgiev. Look for the Lightning to get the win at home here.

That stunning 6-5 loss to the Rangers could damage the Canadiens’ confidence a lot. It had a four-goal lead and ended with the fourth straight loss. The Canadiens lost three home games in a row and all three losses came against the teams who were listed as huge underdogs (New Jersey, Ottawa, and NY Rangers). I cannot expect from the Canadiens to bounce back against one of the best teams in the league and reigning NHL vice-champions. The Bruins’ form is not at the highest level at the moment, but their offense has been playing well since the opening day of the season. They will miss Patrice Bergeron due to a lower-body injury, but I think the Bruins still have enough firepower to outlast the Canadiens.

I will go with the Blackhawks in this one. They are playing on some rest while the Stars are not and that gives Chicago a big edge. The Stars have been on a roll of late and they have one of the best records in the league but Chicago has not been horrible at home this year and Anton Khudobin has gone 3-5 with a 2.75 GAA in his career against the Blackhawks. Corey Crawford has played well at home and he is 16-12 in his career against the Stars. I will take the Blackhawks over a tired Dallas squad.
