13) Purdue 31, Nebraska 27— Nebraska led 10-0 after first quarter; last time Purdue won a conference game when they trailed by 10+ points after the first quarter?

1983, when their QB was Scott Campbell, backed up by future Rams’ QB Jim Everett.

12) Not much suspense as to which team scored the first TD of the day; Michigan ran the opening kickoff back for a TD in its 38-7 win at Maryland. Took them 11 seconds to score.

11) Oregon 56, USC 24— I’m guessing by time you read this, USC coach Helton may have been fired; this was a dismal display. Trojans are 5-4 and struggling. Oregon scored three TD’s in last 2:36 of first half, the last two without the Ducks’ offense being on the field.

10) Boston College 58, Syracuse 27— BC led 44-20 at halftime; in their last two games, Syracuse has given up 737 rushing yards, 10 rushing TD’s to Florida State, BC, who are a combined 9-9 this season.

9) Mississippi State 54, Arkansas 24— Razorbacks lost their last 16 SEC games; this game was 38-10 at the half.

8) Tulane 38, Tulsa 26— From 2009-17, Green Wave was 33-77; last two years, they’re 13-9, as coach Willie Fritz has turned the Tulane program around— last time they went to a bowl in consecutive years was 1997-98.

Tulane actually went 12-0 in ’98 under Tommy Bowden, who then bolted for Clemson.

3) Memphis 54, SMU 48— Big day for the Memphis program, with ESPN GameDay in town; they had a huge crowd in town at 7:30am, 12 hours before kickoff. Both teams in this game are now 8-1.

2) Cincinnati 46, East Carolina 43— Bearcats were favored by 23-points; they outscored ECU 18-3 in 4th quarter, kicking a 32-yard FG at the gun to improve to 7-1, 4-0 in AAC.

1) Indiana 34, Northwestern 3— Hoosiers are quietest 7-2 team in the country. Northwestern has zero TD’s on its last 37 drives.
