    Armadillo: Monday's six-pack

Odds to win NEXT YEAR’s NBA title:

    — Golden State 5-4

    — Rockets, 76ers 7-2

    — Celtics 8-1

    — Heat, Lakers 20-1

    — Spurs 25-1

    — Cavaliers 30-1— Oddsmakers obviously think Lebron is leaving town

    **********

Armadillo: Monday's List of 13: Wrapping up a sports weekend…….

    13) Somewhere in this great country of ours Saturday night, someone bet the under on the Cubs-Mets game; deGrom vs Montgomery was the pitching matchup.

Game was 1-1 after the 13th inning; total was 7.5. Under looked like a winner.

Then the Cubs scored six runs in the 14th inning. Gambling is difficult.

    12) Since start of 2016 season, most starts of 5+ innings with one or fewer runs allowed:
    Lester 36, Verlander 32, Scherzer 31, deGrom 29

    11) AL East:
    Boston
New York 1 GB— Have played six fewer games than the Red Sox.

    10) AL Central
Cleveland— No Wild Cards from this division
    Detroit 2.5 GB
    Minnesota 3.5

    9) AL West
Seattle— Second place in this division is a probable Wild Card
    Houston 1 GB
    Angels 5.5
    A’s 6.5— A’s are 10-19 vs division rivals, 21-10 against everyone else.

    8) NL East
    Braves
Nationals 1.5 GB— Daniel Murphy is expected back soon.
    Phillies 3

Phillies are the first team EVER to score only one run in a three-game series, with the only run scoring on a home run by a pitcher.

    7) NL Central
Brewers— They’re 12-14 vs division rivals, 25-9 vs everyone else.
    Cubs 2
    Cardinals 3.5
    Pirates 6.5

    6) NL West
Diamondbacks— Interesting race, but all these teams are struggling
    Rockies 1.5 GB
Dodgers 2.5— Dodgers can buy talent (Manny Machado??) at trade deadline
    Giants 2.5
    Padres 5.5

    5) In 12 of Seattle’s last 16 home games, the winning run scored after the 6th inning. Mariners are 6-0 in extra inning games this year, as they compete for a playoff spot.

    4) Over is 13-2 in Oakland’s last fifteen series openers; not sure why. A’s last eight home series openers all went over, even though the A’s don’t hit nearly as well at home.

    3) Diamondbacks have been held to six or fewer hits in 30 of their first 58 games; no one else has more than 25 such games.

Last time a team went a whole season with more games of six of fewer hits than games with 7+ hits? The 1910 White Sox.

    2) Braves 4, Nationals 2— Charlie Culbertson hit a walk-off tater for his 8th career home run; four of his eight career homers have been walk-off homers.

1— Late Friday night in Denver, according to police, an FBI agent did a back flip in a club, dropped his gun and accidentally shot someone.

    Oy.

NHL Stanley Cup Final Game 4 betting preview and odds: Golden Knights at Capitals

Vegas Golden Knights at Washington Capitals (-130, 5.5)

      Caps lead series 2-1.

The Washington Capitals hope the momentum of their first-ever home win in the Stanley Cup Finals will go a long way toward recording another versus the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 4 on Monday, thereby bringing them one victory away from grabbing the chalice for the first time in franchise history. Three-time Hart Trophy winner Alex Ovechkin scored the signature diving goal in Saturday's 3-1 triumph, helping the Capitals claim a 2-1 edge in the series.

"I thought it was just sort of the right thing in our first victory in the Final at home that Alex would score the goal," coach Barry Trotz told reporters. "I thought that was a little bit of poetic justice, if you will, for all the tough times." Ovechkin matched a franchise high (John Druce) with his NHL high-tying 14th tally (Winnipeg's Mark Scheifele) to push his point total to 25 to reside two shy of fellow Russian Evgeny Kutznetsov, who rebounded from an upper-body injury in Wednesday's 3-2 win to score and set up a goal in Game 3. Tomas Nosek netted his fourth goal in five games on Saturday when he took advantage of Braden Holtby's misplay for the Golden Knights, who have dropped two in a row for the first time since the final two games of the regular season (April 5-7). "We had twice as much time off as they have in the playoffs. We should have a lot in the tank," Vegas defenseman Deryk Engelland told TSN. "I just think we're not playing our identity. We're trying to make too many plays.

TV: 8 p.m. ET, NBC, CBC, Sportsnet, TVA

      INJURY REPORT:

Golden Knights - LW William Carrier (Questionable, Upper Body), G Malcolm Subban (Questionable, Illness), D Clayton Stoner (Out Indefinitely, Abdominal).

Capitals - No injuries to report.

ABOUT THE GOLDEN KNIGHTS (64-28-5-3, 48-48 O/U): Shea Theodore has parlayed a solid season into a strong playoffs for Vegas, however his play in both Games 2 and 3 left a bit to be desired - and he knows it. "I just have to be much better than I was," said the 22-year-old defenseman, who saw his broken stick lead to Kuznetsov's goal at 12:50 of the second period while his botched clearing attempt resulted in fourth-liner Jay Beagle setting up Devante Smith-Pelly with 6:07 remaining in the third. Theodore also didn't do himself any favors by allowing Capitals defenseman Matt Niskanen to skate past him, resulting in Marc-Andre Fleury to be whistled for tripping to negate a Vegas power play in the latter stages of the second period.

ABOUT THE CAPITALS (63-32-8-1, 54-45 O/U): Beagle answered one assist in his previous eight games by setting up a pair of goals, including tapping the puck to Kuznetsov on a 2-on-1 rush. "(The assist isn't) as good as a goal, but I want it out of my hands when it's me and him, that's for sure," the 32-year-old Beagle said of Kutznetsov, who curiously referenced an NBA Hall of Famer in a nod to playing while at less than 100 percent. "It's emotional stuff. Like Michael Jordan, when he play(ed) his best game, he got hurt, got 53 points," the 26-year-old Kuznetsov told reporters, although it's not known which game he's referencing. "I mean like when you're hurt, you play a little better always."

      MATCHUP CHART:
