    Armadillo: Sunday's six-pack

Westgate Super Contest (1,727 entrants-- prize pool is $2.5M)
six most popular picks in Week 10 season record: 27-26-2

    6) Seahawks -3 (411)-- Chance to get back in contention in NFC West.

    5) Chiefs +6 (426)-- KC lost first meeting with Denver in last minute. .

    4) Redskins even (448)-- New Orleans hasn't had their bye week yet.

    3) Jaguars +5.5 (466)-- Not a lot of faith in the Ravens here.

    2) Raiders -3 (520)-- Scored 34+ points in each of last three games. .

    1) Titans +5.5 (620)-- Letdown spot for unbeaten Carolina?

    **********

Armadillo: Sunday's List of 13: Wrapping up a sports Saturday......

    13) Washington State 31, UCLA 27-- Mike Leach won games in Lubbock and he is winning games in Pullman and neither place is an easy place to build a winner. Coogs scored a TD with 0:03 left to stun the Bruins and make Wazzu 7-3. This game ended at 2:33am here in the east, quite an exciting end to the day.

    12) Houston 35, Memphis 34-- Tigers led 34-14 with 14:00 left and Houston's QB was hurt, but they rallied to win behind the backup QB and is now 10-0, 6-0 in the AAC. Coach Herman used to be an assistant at Ohio State; with so many openings around the country, will Houston be able to keep him for a second year?

    11) Michigan 48, Indiana 41 OT-- Has Indiana ever run for 307 yards against the Wolverines before? Michigan tied this game on last play of regulation; Hoosiers are a 4-6 team that deserves much better- they lost to Ohio State 34-27.

    10) Oregon 38, Stanford 36-- Cardinal scored with 0:10 left. but tying 2-point play failed and Ducks made sure no Pac-12 team has a shot at the national championship playoff this year. Oregon only threw 12 passes, but hit 10 of them for 204 yards.

    9) Oklahoma State 35, Iowa State 31-- Cyclones led 24-7 with 3:00 left in first half, 31-21 after third quarter, but couldn't finish the job. Cowboys were 11-17 on third down and they're still unbeaten- their game with Oklahoma will be huge.

    8) Radford 82, Georgetown 80 2OT-- Radford was 22-12 LY, but none of wins were over a team in the top 125. This is a rough start for the Hoyas, who are 46-26 in their conference games the last four years, but losing to a Big South team is no bueno.

North Florida 93, Illinois 81-- America Sun keeps producing Cinderella teams; in this game played Friday, the Ospreys made 17-33 3-pointers, turned ball over only six times and led by 13 at the half, so this was no fluke.

    7) New Mexico 31, Boise State 24-- Remember Bob Davie, who used to be the coach at Notre Dame, then became a good TV announcer? This is his 4th year as the coach at New Mexico; his Lobos won as 20-point underdogs last week, won as 30-point dogs this week and that does not happen very much.

You might say a team is no good if they're underdog by that many points, which is a fair point, but it takes time to build a football program up-- lot of recruiting to get to the 85 kids you want. Sounds like Davie is doing things the right way.

    6) Warriors 107, Nets 99-- 1-9 Brooklyn took the 11-0 Warriors to OT, but champs survived and stayed unbeaten. Maybe people can shut up for a while about Golden State winning 73 games this year- they damn near lost to a 1-8 team.

    5) Rhode Island was expected to be an NCAA tourney team this year, but they lost their best player EC Matthews for the season this weekend with a knee injury- that is a huge blow for Dan Hurley's up-and-coming team.

    4) Colorado State 84, Northern Iowa 78-- Solid win for Mountain West and Larry Eustachy, the kind of road win that is remembered on Selection Sunday.

    3) Oklahoma 44, Baylor 34-- I'm mystified that Texas Tech never came up with a scholarship for QB Baker Mayfield, who transferred to Oklahoma because of it. Has to be an interesting backstory there.

    2) Arkansas 31, LSU 14-- Second year in row LSU got squashed by the Hogs a week after losing to Alabama; how can a program with so many NFL players coming out of it constantly fail to produce a decent college quarterback? Their OC was a head coach in the NFL, but their QB play, except for Mettenberger, has generally been sub-par.

    1) North Carolina 59, Miami 21-- Tar Heels haven't lost since Labor Day weekend.
