Obama was well over $4 at one point too Kaz. The others brought that price way the fuck back down to reality before they left and like i said, we will see if Obama does the same.

Now go defend the unemployment thread.

8 years of Bush - Gas prices up 25%
8 years of Clinton - Gas prices up 38%
4 months of Obama - Gas prices up 31.7%

When President Bush took office on January 20, 2001, the national average gas price was $1.46 per gallon. Six and a half years later, on August 27, 2007, the national average gas price had jumped to $2.76, roughly 89% higher. Compounded annually, this represents about a 10% jump each year Bush has been in office.

Now, let’s compare the numbers over the same time period for President Clinton.

When Clinton took office on January 20, 1993, the national average gas price was $1.06 per gallon. six and a half years later, the national average gas price had jumped to $1.22, roughly 15% higher. Compounded annually, this represents about a 2% jump each year.

Fast forward to January 20, 2009 when Bush left office. At that time, the average price was $1.83 per gallon, roughly 25% higher. Over Bush's entire term of office, gas increased at a compounded annual rate of approximately 2.85% per year. Now, compare that for the entire Clinton term. Over Clinton's entire term, gas went from $1.06 to $1.46 per gallon, approximately 38% higher. Over Clinton's entire term, gas prices increased at a compounded annual rate of approximately 4.1% per year (an annual rate that is approximately 44% higher than under Bush). None of these numbers are adjusted for inflation, but that likely makes little difference.

Since Obama, gasoline prices have risen from $1.83 to $2.41. That is 31.7% in only four months.

Today the average price for gas is $3.42 per gallon, up a stunning 86.8% since Obama took office.

Where is the outrage and please, don't tell me that inflation has risen that much since his election.
If Obama was a Republican it would be supply and demand.

Nothing to defend. It hasn't really risen or declined much. Started at 7.8 and is 9.1 now. It's a definite disappointment and certainly an issue but has been this way for a while now.

I would like to see Obama or Congress pass legislation to stop all companies from outsourcing their labor to other countries. That has happened more and more since the country went into this depression and unfortunately, it's not gonna change unless companies have to pay a penalty for using a labor force outside of this country. Too much reliance on China for imports with little tariffs and too much reliance on India and other countries for cheap ass labor. That's un-american in my eyes and needs to change as millions of jobs are outsourced.

You want alarming numbers? When Bush took office, unemployment was at a 31 year low of 4%. When he left office, it was at 7.8. That is nearly double from what he started with. That's where it began and unfortunately, can't get to a better place. Oil prices, outsourcing jobs and American's unwilling to spend money during these times is a real problem.

Kaz, there is one major fly in your ointment when you talk about bush and highest all time gas prices all time. It is almost disturbing that you can blab on about bush and those highest all time prices while ignoring one of if not the biggest natural disasters in the countrys history. Maybe you missed it but ever heard of hurricane katrina? It was a natural disaster that crippled the whole oil rich gulf coast. Everybody knew at the time what is was going to do to gas prices and everybody knew why.

It sickens me that you can argue your point and leave that out.

Now tell me, what natural disaster of epic proportions caused the oil here to rise near $5 under obama? And please don't bring up one oil rig that caught fire in the gulf. It was no natural disaster and it was something that odumbass sat on his rump and watched piss oil for 3 months while saying well, geez I hope they figure it out. Please, come up with something better than that.

Everything sickens you. Maybe you're not eating good...

First off. It's common knowledge that the Bush Admin completely dropped the ball and sat on their asses with Hurricane Katrina.

So Hurricane Katrina in 2005 caused the price surge in 2008? Really?
Price of gas in Aug of 2005, when Katrina hit, was $2.61. The week before it hit was $2.55. The week after it hit was $2.78. The year after it hit was $2.49. The 2nd year after it hit was $2.79. The gas prices of over $4 per gallon were 3 years after Katrina. Nice try though...

Still sick? Go see a doctor....

So let me get this straight. Hurricane katrina was his fault too? Wow, I think you hit an all time low with that one. So low that you will have to reach up to pet your cats now. Amazing!

For the record, I hated bush too. Go back and look. I've said it 100 times here. What I can't understand is how this country replaces one monkey with another gorilla. Makes no sense to me at all.

I know you hated Bush. And Katrina wasn't his fault. Sitting on his ass and his administration failing in the days following it, was definitely his fault. That is common knowledge....

it's also common knowledge that the people were warned and "sat on their asses" instead of evacuating. Then bitch that the government wasn't helping.

And Mister Chocolate City left all those buses to be flooded that he could have had those that were warned on them and moving to a safe place.

I think the administration has admitted that there were flaws in the system and I think if a Katrina style hurricane was to hit again things would be different. And if Katrina would have been anywhere else it would have been different. Dumb asses down there that didn't evacuate, rioting and acting like a bunch of animals. How many peoples lives could have been saved if the police and firefighters could have focused on saving lives instead of putting on riot gear. Bush can't be blamed for that.

Kaz, I hated bush and I hate obama even more. You hated bush and you like what obama has done? Seriously??

I've always said that I don't claim dem or rep. I don't claim either because I don't ever want to be forced to drink the kool aid from either side. I am 100% convinced that it is that simple for you. You are a registered dem and you will beat that drum no matter what ever happens. I don't think I have ever seen you unhappy with 1 thing this guy has done and that is just ridiculous because even you must know everybody has their faults and he has plenty!

Easy to say that they just should have evacuated. When you're gonna lose your home and ALL of your belongings and just take off with NOWHERE to go as your destination, leaving behind EVERYTHING you worked to have. You can't really say what they 'should have' or 'shouldn't have' done as a whole.

Funny, because I already posted in that other thread that I was disappointed in the unemployment numbers and that he needs to stop allowing companies to outsource jobs oversees.
