Illegal Immigrant Allegedly Tricked Out of $3M Lottery Win Will Collect Prize

    Published September 05, 2011

An illegal immigrant allegedly swindled out of his $3 million lottery jackpot win will finally collect his prize, the Daily Mail reports.

The man won the jackpot after purchasing a lottery scratch card at N&K Quick Pick in Spring Valley, N.Y., on Feb. 3.

Three of the store's workers had allegedly tricked the man by telling him he'd be deported if he tried to collect his winnings.

"When he presented the ticket, they scared the hell out of him," Rockland County District Attorney Thomas Zugibe told the Daily Mail.

Atif Ali, 22, Riaz Khan, 45, and Mubeen Ashraf, 22, tried to convince the man that he should name them all as co-purchasers, according to prosecutors. The three then allegedly claimed the money and cut the man out of the deal, the website reports.

Zugibe told the website that the man is entitled to cash in on the prize even though he is an undocumented immigrant.

An illegal immigrant who won $3 million on a lottery scratchcard is to finally get his winnings after he was allegedly swindled out of the prize by convenience store workers.

Atif Ali, 22, Riaz Khan, 45, and Mubeen Ashraf, 22, are accused of telling the winner that immigrants cannot claim lottery prizes and that if he tried to collect his winnings, he would be deported.

The man will now start receiving instalments of his massive winnings after the District Attorney said he is entitled to the prize under law.

The suspects allegedly tried to convince the victim that he should include them as co-purchases after he bought the winning tick at N&K Quick Pick in Spring Valley, Rockland County, on February 3.

Ali, who worked at the store, along with former owners Khan and Ashraf, then cashed the ticket and cut the purchaser out of the deal, it is claimed.

They allegedly took the first of 20 annual $150,000 payments and then sold the rights for the rest of the jackpot to a company called Advance Funding for $600,000.

'When he presented the ticket, they scared the hell out of him,' said Rockland County District Attorney Thomas Zugibe.

He added that even if the man is an undocumented immigrant, he is still entitled to his winnings.

The victim will start receiving his winnings as soon as another case involving a man who falsely claimed the same prize is resolved.

The three suspects were arrested and the implicated bank account was frozen following the investigation by the Rockland County Special Investigations Unit, The Spring Valley Police Department and the New York Lottery.

The victim is believed to speak limited English and have been working as a painter.

The Government hasn't gotten it's share of the $3 million.

Those 3 idiots sound like they are immigrants. The guy should have told them to show him their green cards.

On top of that why the hell can't I win $3 million.

Because Obama wants to let illegals in, and keep them here, to get the latino vote. Mexico will eventually take over this country without firing a shot.
