Gas Prices in Chicago Highest in Nation

Gas prices in the Chicago area are officially the highest in the nation, and we aren't surprised in the slightest. According to the Lundberg Survey, the average price for a gallon of gas in the Chicago area is $4.27, but Chicagogasprices.com is listing the average two cents higher and holding steady.

The state average of $4.12 a gallon seems to be going down, thanks to a drop in crude oil prices. Some politicians, like Sen. Mark Kirk, have already hauled out plans to stop the increase in gas prices here and across the nation. President Obama, in his weekly address to the nation, addressed these plans as "silver bullets to bring gas down to $2.50 a gallon" and pushed for creating alternatives to wean the nation off of foreign oil.

“This includes safe and responsible production of oil at home, which we are pursuing. On Thursday, my Attorney General also launched a task force with just one job: rooting out cases of fraud or manipulation in the oil markets that might affect gas prices, including any illegal activity by traders and speculators. We're going to make sure that no one is taking advantage of the American people for their own short-term gain. And another step we need to take is to finally end the $4 billion in taxpayer subsidies we give to the oil and gas companies each year,” he said.

What is Bullshit is that a barrel dropped over $14 this week & prices are still going up ($4.29 CT).

These fucks are charging higher prices even on gas they bought months & months ago for alot less, but still gouging our wallets.

I say let these speculators take physical possession of the oil. Instead of just handing over a piece of paper, they must take delivery of the oil. Then we will see the real price for a barrel of oil.

Also, I'd go to OPEC and tell them whatever price a barrel of oil costs, the same price would be for a pound of rice and any other food we send that way. I'll bet prices would come down real quick.
