Maybe those law-abiding muslims should be more vocal in t heir opposition to extremists, as well as understanding why the OVERWHELMING majority of NY'ers and American citizens don't want it there. Ignoring their concerns isn't a way to build bridges and tolerance.

Do u find it hypocritical at all that some of the same republicans that supported the nra holding their conference in denver after columbine are now against the building of the mosque because of insensitivity. They were using the same argument the supporters of building the mosque are using now

Locally it was much more. It was a national issue but not to this extent. Prob because the 24 hrs news media has grown a lot since that time. I don't believe the president did say anything but I can't be sure. I'm not even sure that matters though

I agree about the 24 hours news, as well as blogs, etc. But I think an attack on our country in the name of islam (not the first) vs an isolated incident of insanity aren't really comparable. I don't think the shootings were an attack on our nation nor in the name of religion.

The magnitude of the attacks are certainly not similar. I would agree there without question. The argument to me seems similar though. Because the law is pretty clear. They have the right to build the mosque there but it is very insensative to do so. Same thing for nra. Law says go ahead but showing compassion for victims of the crime just shows decency

I just think they are different. Columbine vs 9/11 is a no brainer imo. If your theory were to hold water, then every gun show should be on an island b/c it is insensitive to a victim of a gun death.

i wouldnt say no one...prob 95 percent but there is a few good ones who try to make a difference and want to serve
