So I don't see any good coming from it.

i heard from some ny official on some show that there were public community meetings about this site, and there was no outcry against it from the community. most of the outcries have been from people outside the area that are going by what the media is reporting. EVERY special interest is going to slant things their way. look no further than the inicial reports of it being AT ground zero to start all the controvercy.

you don't think leading by example is the best way to lead? china didn't move towards free markets because we made them do it. they have seen it work here and in other countries and look how well it's payed off for them.

you have to get over things and move on. i have said this about jews still bringing up the holicaust, blacks bringing up slavery, and there are many other examples. holding grudges forever will never solve anything and just keeps tentions high betreen groups. there are always going to be people that are profiting by doing this, so people have to realize it and ignore them.

No, not necessarily. If that was the case, wouldn't all nations be following the US model? Especially with the billions given as seed money.

Do you really think there will be a freedom of religion in the Middle East even if we allowed mosques on every other block everywhere? We allow more rights for women in the US, so how has that example worked in the Middle East?

just like i said, but pulling people wouldn't leave much. i know vitturd has it in him to stay away from partisan talking points because i have seen him do it for a couple days (here and at another forum) and i enjoyed the debates. GM has posted in some good discussions. i think kaz has it in him to just partake in good discussions also.

Talking points of MANY members are:

                        Bush had surplus.
Where were members starting t hreads about Bush.
                        Two wars started on lies.
Congress has no control over anything, just the President.
Obama was handed a mess and hasn't made things worse.
Unemployment and GDP doing better. ()
You are a racist if you oppose the president.

not all arab countries are as radical as i believe you are implying, and they are getting better all the time. no real cultural change is going to happen over night. how many years did it take for women to be allowed to vote in this country?

do you think cultural change will happen from the end of a gun or be bought? when is the last time that happened?

a lot of countries have been following the US example for years, but it's a slow process.
