Maybe it wouldn't but a $500,000 dollar gamble is one worth taking because the cost they're going to have to pay now is through the roof, and I'm not even going to mention the damage done to the enviroment. The attitide your presenting is one in which our country cannot afford to have anymore. We were given this beautiful land by GOD and it's our duty as humans to attempt to preserve this land for everyone that comes after us. BTW, I do fly, when I have to, but I do try to cut my carbon footprint in every other aspect of my life. I also have 2 acres of land that I'm growing veggis on in order to cut down on my food cost and to cut down on the energy it takes to ship those goods, and to grow veggis (Industrial farmers use more energy like natural gas and oil than any other group of people). Since I've done all of this I have a lot more money to play with, and I enjoy wagering some of it on sports. You should all give it a try. I think my lifestyle should be appealing to conservatives because of the amount of money that I'm saving from living the way that I do. Not only am I using less energy, but I'm saving money at the same time.

i believe there was some kind of shut off valve on the pipe, it just malfunctioned. no matter how many safe guards you put into anything there are always going to be a chance of something going wrong.

people are making fun of "shit happens", but it is true. it's part of life. nothing is 100% safe.

how do you get enough sunlight to the solar panels with big trees shading your house? i tried that link you posted, but it didn't work.

a 2 acre garden? are you retired? that's big enough to grow veggies for an awful lot of people. i guess you have a tractor to do a lot of the work.

i live on a farm, and my veggy/fruit garden is about a acre. i have more than enough stuff to give to everyone i see fruit and veggies.

I don't have redwoods in the front yard. There is still plent of sunlight that hits the top of my house, I just have enough shade in the front in order to provide enough shade to cool the front of the house. You really have to think of stuff like that when you live in Bama and it gets to be 100 degrees and 1000% humidity. I have curly hair and I'm about 5'10, but with the humidity in the summer time my hair fros up, and I'm peaking out around 6'4. Anyway, I'm not retired, but I have the summers off because I'm in the education field. I don't have a tractor, and I share a lot of my food with anyone in my neighborhood. People come over all the time to help out, it's great. I don't have a tractor, and I don't plow my field every year. I think that excessive plowing kills all of the insect life that helps make the soil fertile.

I saw this documentary a few weeks ago, and thought you'd enjoy it since you live on a farm. It's called, the world according to Monsanto. The link to the video is halfway down the page. This was the only site that I found that offered the whole movie.

your lucky. everyone here always wants the produce if you give it to them, but never seem to show up when you tell them to come over and pick some themselves when they want some, let alone do some weeding.

worms are the most beneficial insect in the soil, and tilling/plowing won't make a difference in their population. they multiply VERY fast and even if they are cut in half, one half will still live. if you mix organic matter into the soil, there will be more worms than you can imagine.
