J-Man... I'm working trying to get my day plan together watching Imus in the Morning on Fox Business News. Well their financial Guru that gives them their business news and her opinion is a lady by the name of Dagen McDowell. She has to be in the top 10 of the most annoying people on TV. Well I googled her and found out that she has a degree in Art History!!!!!!! And her silly ass is giving financial advice? She is part of the Fox business block.... She is not quaified!!!!! But it is easy to get people like her to memorize their talking points. Since she hads a degree in Art History she does have a great memory. As a black man with an MBA I am tested dailey for my credentials. And you know it doesn't even bother me because I can back it up!!!!!(But I have noticed that as a black man you have to have your degree to get your foot in the door more than a white man or woman but that is another thread) But the problem that I have with the far right is that it seems that education does not matter. If someone looks good in a suit, says they love God, Guns, & USA.... And is against against abortion they are qualified!!!!!!! Now I do not have any objections to those beliefs. But if someone say those things to you and they are not a doctor and never been to medical school. Would you let that person operate on you? Would you let a person without a law degree defend you???? I think your answer is NO!!!!!!! So why would you want that person to be president? Or give you financial advice? Now you do not need a degree to sing to me, tell me jokes, or even read the news to me....

First off, I think your comparisons to doctors or lawyers practicing w/o a degree is a bit off as it would be illegal I assume. Wouldn't they have to show their credentials, including schooling, to be licensed?

Secondly, I am not debating the merits or advantages of a college degree. I am sure someone can Google the income advantages of a college degree compared to a HS degree, and even an advanced degree to a Bachelors. I would want my children to get a degree if that is what they wanted to do. I would try and encourage for them.

My point was showing the resident, board genius that people can be intelligent and successful w/o a college degree. You don't need a college degree to have an intelligent opinion, debate, job, career, or anything for that matter. I douby many car mechanics have a college degree but we trust them with our cars. Many in the medical field only have a 2 year degree, which while still college, doesn't compare to advanced degrees. Look at that list again and look at the range of successful people from computer experts to actors to TV personalities. Many of these people have brought A LOT to us, and didn't need a degree to do it.
