Let me start by writing that I do not know much about the Muslim faith, but the one thing I have always questioned is "WOULD MOST REALLY CARE IF HE CAME OUT AND SAID HE WAS MUSLIM (from the beginning)? I mean, I don't know much about the Mormon faith, but I wouldn't hold it against Romney.

In response to the question you posed, in which you prefaced with the fact that you know nothing about. I actually think most of the country (the people that voted for Obama) would not care if he was muslim. But first you have to take into serious account that this past November was this countries first racially driven presidential election. The majority of citizens who voted for him voted simply because the color of his skin. Most Obama voters didn't know then, and still do not know now many of his viewpoints and or policies. To be truthful, they don't care. In fact, based entirely upon various poles you can find for yourself at CNN.com, most black voters feel whatever Obama attempts to "change", they agree with solely because he is black. If that's not pure racism I don't know what you can call it.

As Winston Churchill so accurately said..."the greatest argument against a democracy is a 5 minute conversation with the average citizen."

IF he was a Muslim, I would understand the political side of hiding it based on the public perception of the religion. I just think most religions have some sort of baggage to it, just the extreme Muslim terrorists taint the religion for the masses (no pun). IF he was Muslim, I wonder how a platform of admitting it and using it as a mechanism to understanding would have worked? I do doubt though that the voter would have been a fan of seeing the President on his knees X amount of times during the day. First photo of that in the Oval Office and wowee.
