WASHINGTON — Attorneys for sniper mastermind John Allen Muhammad plan to file an appeal with the U.S. Supreme Court in an effort to stop next week's execution.

Muhammad is scheduled to die by lethal injection Nov. 10 at a Virginia prison.

Attorneys for the 48-year-old have said they planned to file the appeal Tuesday. They asked Gov. Timothy M. Kaine for clemency last month.

Muhammad is to be executed for the slaying of Dean Harold Meyers at a Manassas, Va., gas station during a three-week killing spree in October 2002 that left 10 dead in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia.

Muhammad and his teenage accomplice, Lee Boyd Malvo, were also suspected of fatal shootings in other states, including Louisiana and Alabama. Malvo is serving a life sentence in prison.

Nobody should be put to death, I think it is a travesty. This guy is just as much of a victim as the people that were killed. I'm sure he had something go wrong with his childhood and he didn't fully appreciate that what he was doing was wrong. I for one hope he gets a stay of execution. He is a victim!

Nobody should be put to death, I think it is a travesty. This guy is just as much of a victim as the people that were killed. I think you missed my point...........it was a joke! I signed it as muscleman, one of the more liberal members of our community.

Trust me, if I was running things I guarantee there would be no issues with overcrowded prisons. I'd have a monthly execution parties. ALL murderers, child molestors, and career criminals would cease being the benefactor of our tax dollars.

In fact I'd televise the executions on pay per view to see if we couldn't allow them to pay back the tax dollars spent on their defense and incarceration.

That's funny Spark, I've thought the same thing.

Our society is voyeristic enough that I really think we do it gladiator style and put it on pay per view. I'd pay my $30 to watch some child rapist murder get in the ring with a hungry and pissed off lion. It would be a great way for the criminals to not be such a burden on the system by paying the system back w/ the proceeds of their death. Maybe that or do like that Schwarzeneger movie, what was it............Running Man? Let's make a game out of it.
