Why in the world is Manuel starting Blanton over Happ?????

I'm sorry but it should be Lee, Pedro, Hamels & Happ. Throw 3 lefties at NY and throw your 4 best at them. I would feel 1000 times more confident with Happ than i would Blanton. Happ has great stuff and he faced the Yankees once this year in NY and he gave up 4 hits and 2 runs in 6 innings with 4 K's and 0 Walks. I just don't get it. It was his 1ST ML start and it was in Yankee stadium. The kid showed no fear and pitched GREAT.

Why the fuck would you start fat Blanton over him? IMO it could cost the Phils big time. God damn Manuel, don't get this far and fuck it up!

Where did you see that? I didn't think the rotation (for either team) was settled past Wednesday.

Anyway, I'm sure I'll get flamed for this rant, but I don't like what Manuel has done with Blanton and Happ in the postseason so far. I could see putting 1 in the BP, but I think he screwed up this rotation by using both as yo-yos between the starting rotation and the BP. Going into the playoffs, I would've went with:

    1) Lee
    2) Hamels
    3) Happ
    4) Blanton or Pedro

Happ was the most consistent starter on the Phillies this year so I don't get it. Then again, I don't get a lot of things that Manuel does, but he won the WS last year so let's hope I incorrectly "don't get this one" either.

I think the layoff is going to hurt Philly at first.

I heard on the radio today in a Tim Mccarver interview that Blanton was most likely starting game 4. Even Mccarver thought it was a real bad move starting him instead of the lefty with nasty stuff (Happ). I also think Pedro should start game 2. He pitched great in his other start and he knows NY like no other. He would LOVE to pitch there and i'm sure he would really be on a mission to be the old Pedro there. Hamels has been average at best too so i would pitch him at home. They thought pitching Pedro in game 2 would be a brilliant move too and that's where i got to thinking about this. I agree, Pedro would be ramped up big time pitching there again, where he has many times before!

He can't switch it up now, Happ didn't start last series. He has no choice at this point. He should've pitched Happ over Pedro or Blanton to start the playoffs.

Pedro pitched GREAT in LA and he has the experience. I totally disagree!

Besides BW, who cares if he didn't pitch the last series. I'm sure he has been throwing on the side in preparation.

I think the Yankees have to pitch CC on three days rest, twice maybe. No way they can throw Gaudin out there.

Blanton's only pitched once against the yankees in 2005?

Pedro is pitching better than expected, but Happ had a great year. One start in LA, doesn't mean he'll pitch great against the Yankees. He pitched 44 innings this year, 100 last year, and 28 the year before. You're thinking about 2004 when he use to pitch well against the Yankees. Tex, Cano, Cabrera were still wearing diapers. Considering it looked like he was done last year, it's a nice comeback story, but he's no where near the Pedro of old.

Just a little side note, he went 5-1 this year, his wins were against the Giants, Nationals, Cubs and two against the Mets.

Yes, and it wasn't a great outing.

I was wrong he's pitched against them 4 times in his career.

No, i'm thinking that is the EXACT reason why i WOULD start him. He is still fresh and he has shown in his starts this year that he can clearly still "Pitch". The results confirm that and i also want a guy with his experience pitching in a place where he is comfortable. It has NOTHING to do with '04 or the Red Sox!

You forgot a road game against the Dodgers where he flat out DOMINATED!

I didn't forget it, that wasn't one of his wins. You know who else dominated in that game? Padilla, and guess what happened to him next time out.
