  • Dems won’t act even at $10 per gallon

You can watch the video here.http://hotair.com/archives/2008/07/3...10-per-gallon/

How high will Democrats let the price of gas get before considering the option of drilling for more oil? Ken Salazar (D-CO) has set the bar in today’s action in the Senate. Gas can hit $10 per gallon and the Democrats still won’t act:

Let a thousand television ads bloom. Even Floridians and Californians now support drilling in the OCS:
With gas prices hovering at $4 a gallon, a majority of Floridians now support drilling for oil in protected areas offshore, according to a new poll.
The survey finds support for drilling at 60 percent, with 10 percent of respondents telling pollsters that they’d opposed offshore drilling in the past. Thirty-six percent of respondents said they remain opposed to offshore drilling.

    And ….
A majority of Californians favor more oil drilling off the coast, according to a statewide survey released Wednesday, for the first time since oil prices spiked nearly three decades ago.
The support by 51 percent of residents polled this month by the Public Policy Institute of California represents a shift caused by renewed Republican advocacy for drilling as well as motorists’ reaction to soaring pump prices, according to the pollster.

Republicans should use a very simple message. We have enough oil to satisfy American needs for at least the next 100 years, but Democrats won’t let you have it. They’d rather you pay $10 per gallon at the pump and watch food prices increase 250% rather than agree to drilling. If you don’t want $10 per gallon gas, vote Republican.

You are ridiculous and relentless. Get a clue man. How many times have the stories been published on here that the Democrats want the oil companies to drill the leases they already have?

They are going to enforce a drill it or lose it policy. There is NO need to drill for more oil when we aren't using the area that's been designated for drilling now. Do you even understand that?

This whole thing has been concocted to increase the price of gas, knowing that they had Bush and Cheney's blessing. But keep calling it the Democrats fault. Six years of sitting on their asses and this gas price hike is the Liberal's fault. NO CLUE....

Exxon Posts Record $32.36 Billion Tax Payment
By: Mark J. Perry Thursday, July 31, 2008 1:47 PM

According to CNN, Exxon Mobil once again reported the largest quarterly profit in U.S. history Thursday, posting net income of $11.68 billion on revenue of $138 billion in the second quarter.
That profit works out to $1,485.55 a second.

Buried in the story we also find that "In addition to making hefty profits, Exxon also had a hefty tax bill. Worldwide, the company paid $10.5 billion in income taxes in the second quarter, $9.5 billion in sales taxes, and over $12 billion in what it called 'other taxes.'"

MP: In other words, Exxon Mobil paid $32.361 billion in taxes in the second quarter, which works out to $4,114 in taxes per second. Another way to look at it - Exxon paid almost $3 in taxes ($32.361 billion) for every $1 in profits ($11.68 billion), see chart above. http://www.istockanalyst.com/article...Exxon_Posts_Re cord.html

Another way to look at it is that they made $11.68 billion in profits. After all taxes and debits. That's all that needs to be said.

Their taxes are average and around 25% on their overall income of $138 billion. What's the big fucking deal? Anything you write is trying to spin it as giving credit to these greedy bastards.....Defend them to the end sheep.

How much should they be taxed?? What's good enough for you libs. The gov. makes more off of taxes from big oil, than big oil does, and the gov. doesn't do a fucking thing, but sit back and collect money. The oil companies have to find the oil, survey the land, drill, they take all the risk, the gov has no risk at all. It makes me laugh that people are so obsessed with how much big oil makes, but no one looks at how much taxes they pay to the gov. while the gov, does absolutely nothing. I am sure you agree with BHO's plan of a windfall profit tax, so the gov can give away more social programs. And you call me a sheep. Take from the haves and give to the have nots. This has to be one of the most unintelligent things I've read. Did Jordan call you and tell you to post this. Because he's about the only one who thinks this insanely. Seriously.

We all work and pay taxes while the Gov't sits back and collects it. That's just dumb to say that the Gov't shouldn't collect tax from the oil companies because they drilled and worked for that oil. Wow, wise up....

Second....Their profit was a net income of $11.68 billion in ONE quarter. ONE FUCKING QUARTER! This was after taxes. Are you really going to say that $11.68 isn't an amazing money gouging profit for ONE quarter? GIVE ME A BREAK...

Absolutely yes, the fact that they paid $32 billion on $138 billion of revenue is nothing more than what the rest of the businesses pay on a percentage basis across the country.

We all pay taxes. Their $138 billion in revenue IN ONE QUARTER should be taxed. And I'm sure they dodged one hell of a lot of taxes through loopoles and shelters....
