These guys held Clinton's feet to the fire and forced him to balance the budget and reform welfare (as this was the platform they ran on). To Clinton's ultimate credit he went along with them and during a time of relative peace and an internet stock bubble (that inevitably burst) we had good times in the 1990's. Someone in Congress needs to show some fiscal discipline and do something about Medicare and SS and reign in all of the other spending in Washington. I don't care who it is: Repubs, Dems or both.

Your right Kaz it does exist.On both sides.I will be the first to admit that here in the south it does exist pretty heavy but it's 50/50.Blacks want to be with blacks and whites want to be with whites.And somewhere in the middle are people who don't care about skin color and treat people fair.Do I like blacks who act like thugs.Nope.Do I like whites who act like thugs and whitetrash.Nope.I guess I'm racist not on skin color but by actions.I just can't stand to see the way people have no respect for anybody and worse no respect for themself.I think Obama is right by calling out the dads in black families cause the kids do need discipline.To this day my dad would jump my ass if I walked thru a door and din't hold it open for a lady or a elder guy for that matter.Young people these days(black or white) would let that door shut in a womans face and never even think about it.I have a problem with that.We are nicer in the south because of principles like that and still say yes sir and yes ma'm but until the dads get involved like ours did it's going to continue.

Great posts MM....You are right on the money. No need to expand on it. To compare Carter to Obama is idiotic. Comparing Obama to Clinton is a closer match.

This guy fails to realize that Reagan's term ended in a near depression and full blown recession, and Bush's term will end with him as one of the worse president's in our countries history. Anyone thinking that more of the same is the answer is insane.

Obama has stated a much better foreign policy than McCain and the current idiot in office. Something that will help our economy. He has at least a proposal for a modified health care plan. Something McCain and the current idiot doesn't.

Reagan left office in 1989...the real growth in GDP was 4.15% in 1988 and 4.25% in 1987. I really am curious where you got the idea that we were in recession at the end of RR's term. Did you REALLY believe that, or were you just typing crap to support your rant? Seriously, WHERE DID YOU GET THAT IDEA??? This isn't a rhetorical question...I'd very much like you to tell me where you picked up that information!! By the way, the "theoretical optimum growth rate" for GDP is 3.9%.
