We agreed once I think. It was on something else political.

That's like saying someone else will just run somewhere and start drilling for new oil. Exactly how long will that take while i'm waiting?

I'm not arguing with you, I am just using the anaolgies you brought up. So I don't know who "you guys" are.

The government needs to really push hard for alternative fuel plans or best case scenario, solar or battery operated cars. They can be built, and may not be pretty, but that will kill the oil companies for good....

I think you would have to ask a majority of the Democrats in Congress then. And also McCain, who I believe is against drilling in Alaska too.

There will be shortages of food someday. Not in the near future. But a lot of farmland is being eaten up. Regulating these oil companies is not unreasonable. But they don't want to because they contribute millions of dollars to these leaders. Let's get one thing straight. Congress has been Conservative for almost 8 years as well as the president. The biggest contributors to Conservatives are oil companies.......Enough said about that.

Regulate what? The industry is already tightly regulated. Big Oil in this country only supplies a small percentage of the oil in the market. OPEC, Venezuela, Russia, et. al. supplies the vast majority. Think you can get them to go along with some plan to keep oil prices down and money out of their pockets? Ha. The US (as the world's largest consumer of oil and not a huge producer of it) sure as hell doesn't have a whole lot of leverage with regards to helping keep costs down.

Drilling in Alaska is a band aid. It still doesn't mean jack squat on what oil companies do with setting a price. And, drilling in Alaska would be very costly at this time. Not a solution to the problem.

Seems all the people bitching in here, along with the conspiracy theorists, would certainly have an effect on their elected leadership.
God forbid someone comes up with a suggestion that doesn't involve the government getting into the oil business, or penalizing businesses, or keeping the conspiracy of the century secret.

Simple. How much do they rely on us for food? Military support? and a butt load of other things. The Arabs get plenty from this country. Either they cut the price, or we cut their support. PERIOD! But we are too chicken shit to do it. Because we LOVE having our missiles and bases in every one of those countries.

I believe Wayne was the one who suggested drilling for oil using the funds from the superfund created from penalizing large-scale users, not me.

You guys have fun. I'm done arguing about this. We'll just keep stuffing the wallets of all the oil companies and make excuses for them while we are at it. Hell, why should i want that money in my bank account when i can add to their 329 million dollar savings account. How stupid of me. I'll keep quiet now and just keep inhaling it up the ass from these companies. It's time to enjoy the games for me!

All utility companies are highly regulated. They can't simply triple prices on a whim.

How do you think we will wean ourselves off oil? Does anyone really think the oil companies are going to sit back and watch a new method come out that could bankrupt them.
