Shut down our import export Can you say money for one reason.

And if all of these Countries are behind us why the hell aren't their troops over there helping ours? I guess you forgot about all the gatherings of outcry from citizens of other Countries when we went into Iraq.

We have suicide bombers here in the USA?

If there not ready now they never will be. And we don't need the Majority of our troops over there to continue to train them.

What happens if someone else was to attack us on USA soil right now? WTF would we do.

I think some sort of benchmarks should be in place for the training of the Iraqi police. No one has to announce it publically, but I would hope there are some sort of ones there now.
Now whether or not the troops would be coming home if they aren't met is another discussion. But they definitely need to take care of their own, or under the "they aren't ready" scenario, the US could be there indefinitely. And we don't have the money or the resources for that.
But back to the original post, while the cost in dollars is tremendous, it's not the most expensive, and probably won't be.

Per soldier, I guarantee you the cost is going to be by far the greatest. It's all how you look at it.

As far as training police and military, we need to get out of there and other Muslin countries need to step in. I say this because there is too much resentment against us there now. Other MidEast countries have offered to step in and try to mediate and control that country. It's time that happens. Remember one thing, those there that don't like us, are fighting us. We leave, they aren't going to be fighting the US anymore. So the reality of mediation and stabilizing the area, is far better if we are not involved. That's hard for anyone to imagine right now and esp GW because it would be admitting that we failed. But I believe that's the best scenario. I believe Biden had a plan that resembled that.

Do you not realize the type of enemy we are fighting over there? They do not care if they die! They want to take as many of us with them as they can though!

EXACTLY.....That's exactly why we can't be trying to negotiate a peace plan.....It needs to come from the Muslims. They really do hate us there. This war has solidified it for many years to come. It didn't do anything but create more terror and hatred to the US.

And one more thing. For those of you who think they that we are so much more secure here now. Why do they need to come to this country and kill US citizens, where security is tighter now, when they can easily pick off American targets in their own country. By dropping road side bombs and what not? They've already killed over 3000 Americans on their own land.....

But no one is going to evaluate the cost based on a per soilder basis. And the loss of life total will be one of the lowest too. But monetary cost of the war, which is what the post is about, will not approach WW2. Nor loss of life cost.
Economically speaking, against GDP, not even close.

We have waged/started a war, unprovoked, against another country that is thousands of miles from our shores. And so far, we are really the ONLY country who gives a shit and who is spending trillions to be there.

The people in the Middle East hate us now more than ever. And why wouldn't they? Think of it like this. What would we do or think, if someone had battleships patrolling the seas all around our borders? What would we do if another country had missiles pointed at us in south America and Canada? What would we do if there was a war started by another country in Mexico? And why shouldn't they have them. We have killed innocent people in that region for years now by waging a war for weapons that were never found and Bin Laden who hasn't been found either.

We spend too much money and time trying to be the world's police. It's time to worry about the people in THIS country.

Spending money in this country to protect against things like 911 is much more understandable and worthy of tax payer dollars than spending trillions in other countries to protect who, against tyranny? Who the in the hell are we protecting by being over there? Not people in the US.It has nothing to do with 911. You want to protect us against 911, you spend millions in airport security, building security and intelligence agencies in THIS country. That's why there have been no hijacked plains. Because airport security has increased ten fold. Not because of the war in Iraq. Bullying around ONE country in the middle east has NOT put fear in terrorists. This has only damaged our image to the rest of the world. There are terrorists everywhere. So this war is going stop it? Please.....

Agreed, assuming it gets to that amount. Intangibles are worse IMO. Divided country, perception in world, future affect on future generations, terrorism. You can always get the money.

Won't be worth the paper and the ink soon enough. 100 pennies will be worth more though.
