How many other countries "can" spend that amount realistically? Not many I'm willing to bet

My right to walk in my backyard and fire some rounds at a target would be illegal, but some criminal would still be able to get his hands on a gun and kill someone.
Actually it is the guns that kill people. Nuclear bombs don't kill people, it's the person that presses the red button that kills people. Obviously it takes the action to kill someone, but it's a hell of a lot harder to kill someone with a toothpick, than it is with a bomb.

With that reasoning, let's take away all knives, people do kill with those. Rope, twine, yep people kill with those.

You're missing my point. Criminals that kill WILL still find a way to get ahold of a gun.

Exactly, do you think the lawbreaking thugs will turn in thier weapons??

Come on folks history has evolved with weapons, thank goodness the Germans/Japanese did not ge Nukes before we did. Yea, we bombed Hiroshima, to stop he war. Wait till the iraniun nut gets nukes, he cant wait to wipe out Israel. Maybe if Israel disarms, Iran will too???

Everyone should have the right to bear arms in America just not assault weapons.

You'll have to pry the shoulder-mounted grenade launcher from my cold, dead hands, Monte....or just steal it out of the bed of my pickup truck. I can't keep it in the cab any more since that unfortunate accident with an innocent passenger in my vehicle. What a mess. It was like a scene from Pulp Fiction.
