Berkeley to Marines: You're 'not welcome in our city'

I almost lost it at work today when I read this. I will certainly write a letter to the Berkeley City Council. I understand people's right to have the opinion that we should no longer be in Iraq or shouldn't have went in the 1st place, BUT TO PLACE BLAME ON THE MARINES THEMSELVES IS ABSURD AND IT PISSES ME OFF BEYOND BELIEF. These people have probably never done anything of any significance in their entire lives and they have the balls to protest a Marine recruiting station? Go take a shower for once and get a clue.

It gets better...now they're burning American flags in protest...get the Fuck out of this country and move your asses to Mexico.

So the recruiters WHO ARE MARINES should not be allowed in Berkeley because they bring kids into the military? Yea, that makes sense. There is nothing wrong with being against the War in Iraq, but to hold it against the military members is what pisses me off and should not be tolerated. The people that live in Berkeley live in a fantasy world where WAR is not necessary and every dispute is settled peacefully. They need to wake the fuck up.

And I have a Masters Degree so I understand that burning flags is legal, but to do it in this case is brutal. What have these people done to defend our country? Like I said, they should move to Mexico if they don't like it here.

Maybe their all pacifist. By the way, there have been several disputes that have been handled peacefully: India winning independence, the velvet revolution, the fall of communism, the civil rights movement. All of the above have a similar underlying theme: nonviolence. When I got my masters degree I learned all of that.

When I mentioned I have a Masters degree, I was being a smartass...I know that burning the flag is a 1st amendment right...my pt is that I don't understand how people can disrespect this country because they don't believe in war...I guess after 9/11 happened we shouldn't have went into Afghanistan to start killing Taliban?
