Seriously, Chad, these guys are right. I am older than some of these young pups on here (not Spark !!) and I've been there and done that. I commend you on your staying sober, but gambling is an addiction also. Losing like this can make you return to other bad habits. I've seen it too many times.
Heed some advice and take some time off from gambling and if this site encourages you to gamble, take some time away from here if need be. $5000 is a tough nut to lose EVEN if you can easily afford it.

I talked to Chad last night--for those of you that know Chad outside of BC you would perhaps understand what he is writing. This is Chad's personality-love it hate it whatever---Chad and I are friends and when I called him last night I said what the fuck are you nuts....5000 fucking dollars. Chad and I have had these convesations before about betting to much money. I don't believe Chad meant any harm in what he said--like he said he is just venting.I don't condone or like to see that kind of venting but to each his own. I know this because of last night conversation and previous(that he meant no harm). We all need to learn from our mistakes and hopefully my friend Chad will learn from this. I have learned the ramifications of gambling to much cash and I do take breaks to clear my head. Chad will do the same when he is ready. I have told Chad bet smaller amounts and don't put all your eggs in one basket because this shit tends to happen. Hopefully Chad will take a small break clear his head and move forward... Chad is an adult and will figure it out....I am not defending Chad but I like Chad and he knows he fucked up. He told me he bet that amount and from the tone in his voice last night I believe him.

Sorry to hear this. I did something like this 3 years ago on a baseball game believe it or not. The game wasn't even close. Something like 8-3 loser. I promised myself I would never do something like that again or I shoud quit.

Thanks Mark...aprreciate it...you guys can say all you want about how stupid this bet was but I can guarantee that ALL OF YOU have done something similar to this before back in your early youth....I am only 22 years old...I made a young rookie mistake by betting too much and now have to suffer the consequences....I typically dont bet a ton when I do bet on games so I have definately learned my lesson and it is all my fault.....I have now taken this big loss in stride and am just going back to what I have always done and bet small for action and not necessarily to make money....life is all about living and learning and I enjoy watching sports and gamling on them and if I want to stay in the game I must recognize this as a hobby and not a way of making money and thats what I had been doing up until yesterday....so now its time to go back to that and have some fun....thanks....

Yup...just made 3 small NHL bets for tonight...I am not gonna chase nor think about getting that 5 back its gone so fuck it...just kicking back and relaxing and trying to forget the whole thing and move forward with smaller bets for action and having fun...
