Are you kidding me? Pats Nation would have brought out the whole conspiracy theory that they hang their hat on almost every week. Even Brady made a comment last night saying something to the effect that they were getting screwed by the officals the first three quarters.

Pats fans thrive on the 'us-against-the-world' mentality where no one wants to see them win and when they do, it is despite everyone's best efforts to try to derail them- the fans, the officals, the Commissioner, the TV Networks, the ball boys....

This is definately one of the funniest lines i've heard in a while. I wish I didn't miss this last night what a howl. Go Pats!! I cant believe all the calls the Ravens got. LOL

IMO, the hold in the end zone was a hold, the TD could have gone either way...but you know what, Balt had two 4th downs to stop them and the defense, which talks more shit than any single unit in the NFL, couldn't step up and make a play so they did not deserve to win the game! Sorry, Ray Ray, but take your 'L' and go home and shut the big fat mouth of yours...and take Ed Reed and Bart Scott with you!

They did stop them. Thats the point. Once their idiot coach called a timeout, the 2nd time there was a phantom penalty. How can you say they didnt stop them?

Greek, please, that was far from a phantom call. I was rooting for the Ravens and I had no issue with it...doesn't make it the right call, but, imo, I thought it was a good call.

One play does not decide the game. Billick's play calling left a lot to be desired, Ed Reed should shut his yap and not fumble the ball late in the first half and the vaunted defense gave up a game winning drive. They had PLENTY of opportunities to win and should not have left it to the officials to 'maybe' mis a call that decided it.

Injuries and officials do not lose games....

Actually, I would say 3 times b/c they did have NE stopped on the Brady keeper before the timeout, they had them stopped on the next play but a false start call, and then the questionable holding call.

This is from Pasquwerelli's column on ESPN:

                  • With 55 seconds remaining and facing a fourth-and-5 from the Ravens' 13-yard line, Brady threw incomplete for tight end Benjamin Watson, but Baltimore dime cornerback Jamaine Winborne was flagged for holding in the secondary. It was the correct call by the officials, but on the wrong defender. Winborne made virtually no contact on the play but, in underneath coverage, Scott had Gaffney in a bear hug.

                  • From a BALTIMORE SUN TIMES article:
There might be a legitimate gripe to be made against the Patriots and the NFL this morning, but it's not the one that's echoing all over Baltimore, from the office water cooler to your friendly sports talk radio station.

The woe-is-me chorus in last night's postgame locker room and today's post-Patriots' Baltimore is an unfortunate one. Blaming the officiating for 27-24 nail-biter loss -- especially one in which many of your players acted like their employer might need to install an obedience school near the training room -- has the very strong aroma of sour grapes. This Ravens' team talks so much, you'd think at some point one of them would've come across the words "accountability" or "discipline." More on that in the second.

I do want to see the referees' actions reviewed last night, but not because they suddenly became flag-happy in the final minutes, when it might conveniently help the Patriots maintain their perfect record.

                    • Same article:
As for the game itself, it's difficult to feel much sympathy for the Ravens today. If they were truly robbed, you have to at least concede that they opened the vault doors and drew a yellow line leading the thieving Pats to the loot.
You don't give a team like the Patriots and a quarterback like Brady as many chances as the Ravens did last night. You don't make so many silly penalties and you don't call senseless timeouts.
You want to see who robbed the Ravens of victory? Let's find out why Rex Ryan was anxiously signaling for a timeout while the Patriots faced fourth-and-one on their final drive. The play was snapped and the Patriots appeared to be stopped. Change of possession, right? Game nearly over, right?

Nope. The play was ruled dead because Ryan -- who may or may not have had head coach Brian Billick's blessing -- called the timeout just as the Patriots were snapping the ball.

Fans wanting to blame the refs for the loss had better take off their purple-shaded glasses. In the Ravens, we're dealing with the least-disciplined team in the NFL. Last night it was 13 penalties for 100 yards. On the season, they've managed to rack up the second-most penalty yards in the NFL.

You think they're going to get any breaks when they act like they're going by playground rules? When Willis McGahee flexes as though he's never reached a first-down marker before. When Bart Scott performs an impromptu tryout for the Orioles' pitching staff. When Billick -- the head coach, you'll recall -- blows kisses to opposing player Rodney Harrison?

You can't act like children all year and then pout when you're punished like children at the end of one game.
As much as the Patriots won last night, the Ravens lost. Which is a shame considering how good they looked at times. If we'd seen last night's performance a few more times this season, the Ravens wouldn't be carrying a franchise-record six-game losing streak into Sunday's game against the Colts.

We saw the Ravens infractions last night and they're suffering their punishment today. What we need to know is whether one mouthy official committed an infraction of his own. If so, he needs to be punished as well.

you have to take these games for what they are. each week, especially in the national tv games, teams like baltimore and philly are playing their best games of their season. if balt played like they did last night all season, they would have 10 wins right now. same with the eagles.

the pats d hasn't looked that good, but they are getting everyones best shot by far- balt and philly played their asses off.

                            • LAst nights game proved to me that the PAts will not beat Indy. Indy is the better team, they had them beat and home and let them off the hook. Indy has the better defense and when they get healthy will be a force once again. Hope they do not get jobbed by the refs though as the AFC championship will be played in NE.

                              • They beat the Colts, end of story! If I was an Eagle or Raven fan I would be proud of my team. They played the best team in the league and gave it their all. They might not of won but they gave us a very enjoyable game and could of won had they alittle luck. We as sports fans hate blow outs but will just go to bed piecefully but let there be a close game an damn someone will hear your rath! Glad this thread was still on top as it makes it a little easier swallowing both the under and the Pat's wager knowing that I would never hate any team like many do here!
