More than half of blacks surveyed in an ESPN/Seton Hall poll on Barry Bonds think baseball and the federal government were unfair in its probe of the all-time home run king and think Bonds' record should remain asterisk-free.

    Barry Bonds

    Bonds

Those numbers are significantly higher than whites, who were asked the same questions in the survey of 631 people.

Only 26.3 percent of whites said Major League Baseball was unfair in his probe of past abuses, while 52.5 percent of blacks felt that way. Only 25.7 percent of whites felt the government was unfair in its probe, compared to 54.5 percent of blacks. And 34.8 percent of whites felt Bonds' record should not be marked with an asterisk or stricken from the record book; 50.4 percent of blacks felt that way.

The survey included 311 women and 320 men. Three-quarters of the respondents were white, with 12.7 percent of those surveyed identifying themselves as black. More than 75 percent of the respondents considered themselves sports fans.

Both blacks and whites overwhelmingly believe that Bonds knowingly took performance-enhancing drugs (63.5 percent of blacks; 77.9 percent of whites).

    Among other findings:

    • Nearly 60 percent of whites think Bonds should be banned from the Hall of Fame if he's found guilty in federal court, while 44 percent of blacks felt that way.

    • If found guilty, 45 percent of blacks feel Bonds should serve time in jail, compared to 34.3 percent of whites.

    • Blacks and whites both listed the home run record as being the main reason for the attention on Bonds in the MLB and federal probes. However, a little more than 20 percent of blacks felt race was the main issue -- the second-biggest reason listed. Only 5.7 percent of whites felt race was the main issue -- the lowest category among white respondents.

I think its outrageous that Bonds is being investigated, for at the worst doing something to his own body, but the Vice President and Karl Rove can "out" a CIA agent, which by the way is treason, and not even have to testify before a grand jury. It really is laughable what gets people like Jordan's rocks off. Get a clue kid.

What will you dems do when you dont have Bush, Cheney and Rove to beat up on anymore? I suppose when you get power you will still play the blame game. Your party has no leaders just complainers.

Is outing a CIA agent not something to get upset about? Is it not patriotic of me not to get upset. Just keep using the same talking points, a one liners. I just stated that the fact that BARRY BONDS STEROID FIASCO MEANS MORE TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE THAN A CIA AGENT GETTING "OUTED" BY THE ADMINISTRATION IS ABSURD AND SHOWS HOW STUPID OUR COUNTRY HAS BECOME.

All of them involved should be in Jail, but then again how do you put a current President in Jail when the Democrats are too much of pussies to impeach him.

So are you saying Sen Craig shouldn't be "investigated" for his bathroom antics, or Gonzalez shouldn't have been investigated for firing judges?
And Bonds is indicted for lying to a grand jury. I am sure that you believe in the sanctity of the judicial process?

Deadbeat Al Sharpton want all Blacks to monitor Don Imus, but when asked if he was monitoring any rappers for use of the "N" word he says "it doesnt offend our race when black ppl use the "N" word....

If 4 white ppl would've killed and shot Sean Taylor, u would have every civil right moron claiming hate crime.....But it was 4 black kids , you, the media havent said a word.......The black KKK strikes again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your missing the point. I know Bonds lied to the grand jury. WHO CARES! It's baseball, he is not hurting anyone. My point is that Rove and company never even had to testify, and Libby got a pardon. I actually served this country-your welcome, and yes I am a DEM. I know they commited treason you seem not to even care if they did. Since you are playing the "what if" game. What if Clinton "outed" a CIA AGENT?
