        Please tell us what George Bush has been doing for the past 7+ years when it comes to the border? Other than going to Texas for vacation. For most of his term he has had a Rep house and Senate and he has done NOTHING!. It cuts both ways Jordan, just like it's OK for Repubs to come out now and say we want to close the border to look tough on the border issue. You have to ask, are they saying it just to get elected? You bet they are.

THE REASON HE DOESNT WANT THE BORDERS CLOSED IS BECAUSE OF THE CHEAP LABOR HE CAN GIVE TO HIS POLITICAL CRONIES. DID YOU EVEN SEE BUSHS STANCE ON ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS?HE SAID HIMSELF THAT ILLEGALS ALREADY HERE SHOULD BE ABLE TO STAY HERE.             Repubs need a rallying cry, and illegal immigration is it. If it was such a front burner issue, things pitched now would have been done a while ago. I think President Bush was less concerned about taking care of his buddies as MM writes, and was more concerned about courting the Hispanic vote knowing they usually vote for Dems. If President Bush wanted to have done something about it, he could have when Repubs controlled Congress. Since the anti-war sentiment was at an all-time high before 06 elections, a stronger stance on illegal immigration would have saved some Republican seats.

                I agree in what you are saying. Illegal immigration along with ending the war in Iraq is the rally cry of the American people but our elected officials don't give a shit because most American people don't give a shit. It works both ways. If one side is against it. The other side is for it.

                Our elected officials need to do what the American people are telling them to do on the issues of ending the war. Ending open borders, and ending the IRS. I think these are issues we can all agree on as people, and not as Dems and Repubs.
