Well, since Richard Armitage, the actual "leaker", was found not to do anything to break the law, the 2.5 years for obstruction seemed a bit excessive to many. Plus, from what was in the press, it seems like he may have just had some dates mixed up. Obviously that can be on purpose, but I can't necessarily remember things to the exact dates from years ago, which is when the hearing was compared to the events in question.

This event is pretty much just bringing out the normal Bush haters with them thinking they have extra ammunition. There are numerous examples on both sides of the aisle of more gregarious full pardons given (i.e. Marc Rich), but this is just the flavor of the minute. And the press is extra pissed b/c they had people spend time in jailfor not giving up sources and they feel extra hurt b/c Scooter won't see any jail time.

Apples is right. Dick Armitage (an opponent of the war at the State Dept, not the White House) was the leaker. Not Libby, or Rove or Cheney as all of the Dems were hoping. Patrick Fitzgerald knew this within the first days of the investigation and obviously did not prosecute Armitage or Libby for outing a covert agent since he realized Plame was only a desk jockey. No crime was committed here. Fitzgerald was under pressure to prosecute someone from the Bush White House. Since Libby and a few reporters had differing recollections of dates and times and topics of conversations from a couple years back Fitz decided it must have been Libby lying to cover up a non crime that wasn't even prosecuted. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense but that's Washington.

The 25 GOP Senators Who Voted Guilty Twice On Clinton
Based on my article this morning, people are already writing to ask who the 25 Republican Senators were -- who are still in the Senate -- who voted guilty on both articles of impeachment against Bill Clinton in 1999.

          Here they are:

          Wayne Allard (R-CO)
          Robert Bennett (R-UT)
          Kit Bond (R-MO)
          Sam Brownback (R-KS)
          Jim Bunning (R-KY)
          Thad Cochran (R-MS)
          Larry Craig (R-ID)
          Mike Crapo (R-ID)
          Pete Domenici (R-NM)
          Mike Enzi (R-WY)
          Chuck Grassley (R-IA)
          Judd Gregg (R-NH)
          Chuck Hagel (R-NE)
          Orrin Hatch (R-UT)
          Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX)
          Jim Inhofe (R-OK)
          Jon Kyl (R-AZ)
          Trent Lott (R-MS)
          Dick Lugar (R-IN)
          John McCain (R-AZ)
          Mitch McConnell (R-KY)
          Pat Roberts (R-KS)
          Jeff Sessions (R-AL)
          Gordon Smith (R-OR)
          George Voinovich (R-OH)

All of the above wanted to Impeach Clinton in 99, but have said nothing regarding what Bush did for Scooter.

It is what is best for themselves not the citizens that voted them in. Like Jim Bunning and Mitch Mcconell of Kentucky. Politicians suck!!!!!!!!!!!! It is about making themselves feel good and making money

If you bothered to look into it you will see the statements that they made regarding Clinton yet they aren't applying them to Scooter...typical bs
