Brett Myers ... YOU SUCK!

Anyone who's watched Myers pitch over the last few years and into this season would know he was the best option as a closer.

The reason he's in the role is simple - The Phillies had 6 starting pitchers on opening day and a neglected bullpen. Gordon is pitching outside of his prime and Myers, out of every starter, clearly had the best stuff to close......and yes he was already a better option as a starter than Gordon.

His breaking ball freezes batters and is set up by a consistent 94 mph fast ball with movement. His control with the fast ball could stand to get better but he's still a young arm.

I read this whole arguement and must say that anyone who thinks Myers "sucks" as a closer, clearly doesn't make a habit of watching him day in and day out.

In reality, if Myers was in the starting rotation, and not relagated to the pen because of Pat Gillick's inablility to move Pat Burrell, he'd be a solid #2 behind phenom Cole Hamels.

As a starter Myers is a 3.00 era guy and a 17 game winner consistently.

Sugar coat all you want jimmy but don't let his era of 5.50 or the facts get in the way!

its funny that a new person would make his 1st post in this thread....does that guy think that no one would notice that or was he just kidding and it was simply his only option to make a point after being suspended....sometimes a little controversy is a good thing...just my opinion...now kiss and make up you two

Wayne no disrespect to ya my friend but this is what makes sports so great 2 people arguing about something and both knowing they are 100% right.But only 1 of u are right.Some people speak from the heart some speak from the stats.But a month is kinda long ya know and if someone is so passionete about something then that is the type of folks we want here.The name calling should not have happend on his part but it all happens.I know u have been here alot longer and i trust your judgement as being the best for this board.THE Mods here do a great job weeding out the bad so respect your call either way

I've been talking with him through email and as i told him ... He has started 100 threads bitching about teams or players and i may have disagreed with a few but i never ridiculed him endlessly for an opinion of his he stated in one of his threads while telling him he was wrong several times (before it escalated) for having his opinion. I told him to end it because it was going well beyond a debate and he chose not to. I'll leave it at that.

see that is the whole point.Sometimes we do not know what goes on behind the scenes thats why i dont jump to 1 side or the other.Not kissing ass siding with a MOD. You just never know how many chances a person has been given or what has happened in the past.

I appreciate that tech. Lots of people have jumped in before to take sides and it usually either gets worse or they have no clue what they are talking about because they don't know all the facts. Either way it never usually helps. I don't hate anyone but after being told several times that i was wrong for not liking Myers and then having a shot taken at a player on a team he knows i like by saying i hope he takes a line drive off the head ... I then knew it was going beyond debate and i was going to give a few shots of my own if we were going to play that way. I told him earlier in the conversation and twice at the end that if he was going to get pissed and start twisting my words, i would end it quickly. He should have got the hint when i let him have the final say and kept asking if he was done. When he didn't, i pulled the plug.

I just lifted his ban. I emailed him and said it was in good faith. If we go backwards from here or continue on as before, i'll put it back on again.
