Was up very early this morning … the town is repaving the road to my home and all errands must be done by 7AM … otherwise the only other way to civilization is by boat. So I jotted down a few things …. Bear in mind that I’m not used to waking up at 6 AM
The more I see him , the more I get the feeling that Arizona’s Sean Green does not want to play baseball any more.
The more I see him , the more I get the feeling that for the first time in a long LONG while LA’s Nomar Garciaparra wants to play baseball. And it’s about time. I was wrong … for now at least. But we’ll wait and see . COURAGE IS NOT A TEMPORARY THING.
Barry Bonds is a lazy pantload and I hope you all saw his no try in left field vs. St. Louis last night. Just another in a history of pathetic displays for this low down liar, cheat and thief who only has one agenda on his mind. Luis Gonzalez of the Arizona Diamondbacks hit his 507th career double in the ninth inning of a 7-6 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals a few weeks ago, moving him ahead of the Yankees' Hall of Famer into 38th place. Why do I get the feeling that this is a more meaningful accomplishment than what Bonds has most people not caring about?
Anyway , Gonzalez has a well deserved World Championship Ring and Barry has Zippidy Doo Dah. It’s far to late to tell Bonds that baseball , after all, is a team sport.
I said this 20 years ago … “ Give athletes too much money and eventually they will invent their own personalized drugs “
I tore into Boston’s Wily Mo Pena yesterday because he did something most disturbing on Sunday at Philadelphia. While “playing “ center field a ball was hit to him on a fly. There were no men on base. He ran in and the ball wedged between his forearm and his chest. That is not a catch. For some reason he kept running in the direction of 2nd base . All Pena had to do was stop running , take the ball with his free hand , place it in his glove , and the batter would have been declared “ out “ . So what did this Jabroni do ??? …. He ran til he dropped the ball and the batter wound up on 2nd base …. most stupid. If you strike out a lot the least you can do is look alive defensively.
If the Mavericks go to the NBA finals I’ll probably unload on the other side … I still maintain that Dirk Nowitzki is a very good individual player but you can’t win a championship with him. Given his mentality , he'd be more suited for golf or tennis. There are some players and coaches in this world who are just not destined to be champions.
The Yankees will never win a Championship with Mussina.
The Cardinals will never win with Mark Mulder
No one will win with Schottenheimer
Phil Jackson is a genius … put aside for one second all his Championships and think about how he has made useful , functioning players out of the likes of Ham and Egger Luke Walton and a lazy bastard who calls himself Kwame Brown … 2 BoomberEyes who should not even be in the NBA to begin with.
Kwame Brown … lol … gimme a fucking break !!!
It has all come back to haunt me … By now most of you who regularly read “ Hip “ know my feeling ( or lack thereof ) for Duante Culpepper and Joey Harrington. A while back I made a pretty decent size wager on The Dolphins to win Superbowl XLI 2007 in Miami at 12 /1 odds . I did this knowing full and well that Culpepper is a Dolphin but it was more of a play on Nick Saban ( who in a short while will be recognized as The NFL’s Premier Coach ) than anything else.
What I did not know was that he was to add Harrington to the roster … and not only him …. a glorified running back named Marcus ( “ Cheap Shot “ ) Vick who had his ass kicked out of Virginia Tech for kicking an opposing player in a bowl game last season.
Since the acquisition of Joey The Fruitcake and Cheap Shot Vick, Miami is now 18/1 at Pinnacle … there’s not a lot of faith in these 2 Jabronis.
So here I am sitting on a 3 Large Wager at 12/1 when with a little patience I could have owned them at 18/1 . Talk about your pulling the trigger a bit too early … LOLOL … I still think they will make the playoffs in which case I’ll hedge my ass off and turn a profit. Saban will need to Phil Jacksonize his QB’s for this to happen … and this will not an easy task to say the least.
And finally … a cute story :
THE JEWISH MISTRESS
A Jewish husband and wife were having dinner at a very fine restaurant when this absolutely stunning young woman comes over to their table, gives the husband a big open-mouthed kiss, then whispers in his ear that she'll see him later, winks, and walks away.
The wife glares at her husband and says, "Who was that?"
"Oh," the husband replies casually, "she's my mistress."
"That's the last straw," says the wife. "I've had enough! I want a divorce!"
"Well, I can understand that," replies her husband, "but remember this: if we get a divorce it will mean no more shopping trips to Paris, no more wintering in Barbados, no more summers in Tuscany, no more Jaguar in the garage and no more yacht club. So, the decision is yours."
Just then, a mutual friend enters the restaurant with a gorgeous babe on his arm. "Who's that woman with Moishe?" asks the wife.
"That's his mistress," says her husband.
"Ours is prettier," she said.
