in all Honesty guys.....is ther any other team that has 2nd and 3rd with no out or the bases loaded with 1 or no outs....you can bet every dollar in your pocket that they wont score..if youy watch any cub games watch this trend....Ita been like this for the 32 yrs ive been alive, no matter who the players or coaches are they can't do the little things... When a reporter asked Baker in spring training if he plans on practicing the fundamentals, his response was" when they're up at this level, we shouldnt have to teach fundamentals." HOW in the world was he not fired right then and there.....Can you imagine Torre saying that.....The greatest quote i've ever heard from an ex CUB

Who cares? I have NO PROBLEM with him being a fan. I have a problem with him defending or making excuses for every loss or problem they have. They are pitiful and alot of other Cubs fans here have agreed and are pissed at them too BUT ... They don't make excuses for them either. If you followed the many conversations with me and him, you would have seen me SEVERAL times say i was having fun and just giving him shit. You would have also read where i too said i liked the Cubs AND ... You would have seen where he laughed and said he would bump this thread for me later last night. That was why i directed a comment to him as the forever fan.


You may have been a Pats fan when they sucked and so was i but you know what? Many, many thousands were and did they EVER sell out that stadium? HELL NO, you could walk up and buy tickets at 12:30 like i did several times. The Red Sox too. Look back at the tapes when Clemens had the 20 K game against Seattle. The fucken place was at least half EMPTY. Was it 'cause the Sox had no fans? Ummmm ... NO, it's because fans ANYWHERE don't pack stadiums to see a team that loses year after year after year. Well, the Cubs are the exception and will do nothing to dedicate themselves to winning because why? There ARE NO SEATS TO FILL!!!

Spending more money isn't going to fill them anymore so why do it?

The Cub fans are FINALLY getting angry and are ready to WALK AWAY for awhile just like all the Red Sox and Patriots fans did and it won't improve until the fans start doing so!

First part....right on the money. I think for the most part we're having a lot of fun with it...with some parts of seriousness in between. Nothing wrong with that.


The second part....wow, I couldn't disagree more. Its your opinion, and your well entitled to it. My opinion on that is that I don't think you can measure the effect a team has on its fans by living in the area, or even more by the amount of money they spend each year. Just because Joe has gone to a lot more games then I have in the past 10 years in my opinion has no bearing on the matter.

I spend a good amount of money for me on MLB extra innings, MLB.com to watch previous games, merchandise, as well as going to see them play in Atlanta every year...etc. If I decide that I am fed up at one point...will it then not be that big of a deal because I live 700 miles away and spent maybe $1000 less?

I don't think that's a fair assessment.

I believe I am one of the biggest Cubs fans out there. And anyone that wants to lay claim as a bigger one...come get it. But please don't say that I don't have any less of a right to be pleased or displeased. I believe I have every right.


It's a good conversation starter though Wayne...I will give you that. What makes one fan better then the next? I bet we get a lot of opinions.
