Hey deltaChuck...I dont bet over my head....even though I may lose never over my head....not even close to so much that it is affecting areas of my life....was just bringin up a question...I still have plenty of money....now get out of here.....

thanks guys. I do not bet more than I can afford, but if it is true that 99% of the people lose why do it? especially for the amount of time i have been spending on it. I love sports but i think tonight it my last bet. I will walk away either down $225 or down $305. Either way 4.5 months is enough for me to be honest with myself. I am just a kid (almost 20) and feel myself being consumed. No disrespect to Chado but he is an NHL expert and he is down in that sport. What the hell chance do I have? Also I pop on here a couple minutes here and there and he as well as many are always on here. I feel myself heading that way and am nipping it in the bud.

I am going to back to my hobby of ju-jitzu and bury myself in school. The only thing positive that has come out of this is that I read this thread today and it woke me up.

I just do not get the logic of throwing my hard earned money on a chance if it is more than likely i will lose in the end. I clerk in the summer and winter break and make $15 and hour so this could sink me quick. It seems if we all know these steadfast rules and can not stick by them then we are being controlled by an addiction. It is not a hobby anymore, because if it were we would not care nor press as hard. I think.

I think many of all of our problems is we have addictive personalities and this plays into it. It appears all of our urges are very similar. Chado, mine and others who have commented. Is there any out there who HAVE the necessary steadfast discipline or are we just wasting our time and feeding our addictions.

Heres a summary of my weekends stupidity:

Friday night:

2 bets of equal value:

Ottawa - winner

Raptors - loser

down juice so what do I do? I bet Golden State 2nd half which meant they just had to win the game at home by 1 point in which they were favored and they lose outright by 15 points.

Saturday:

Pissed off about my stupid 2nd half NBA bet (what an idiot I am for taking NBA in the first place let alone 2nd half) I wake up Saturday morning and try to get it back on some early morning soccer. I study some games for about a half hour and make 2 more bets of equal value:

One soccer game under - winner

Another soccer game under - winner

Alright nice I won both. Now I am gonna take the Seahawks this afternoon - winner

I just miss getting in my Pitt +3.0 bet so I go with 2 more bets for the Saturday night games....2 more bets for equal value:

Chungers CBB GOY - loser

Rangers in NHL - loser

Ok great now I have just given back all my Seahawks profit and then some.

Sunday morning....well the soccer was good to me yesterday morning lets try it again:

Great now I have just given all my Seahawks profit away and then even more then that with this stupid soccer under pick that didnt have a prayer....alright Wayne has a GOY today on the Bucs I am all over it:

Great now 4 losers in a row....fuck it I am gonna get all of it back with the Titans +11.0 and then go back to being conservative and using my head:

Titans +11.0....up 6-0 at half....get ouscored 17-0 in the 2nd half and I get a push....OMG...are you fuckin joking me...how was this not a winner catching 11 points?

Dont worry I will just win "what I should have won on the Titans" back with Kapts GMAC over pick:

Over 77.0 - loser....a 77.0 over under total and a team doesnt score one single offensive TD which would have given me at least a push and I lose. I probably wouldnt have made any wager on this game had I not been so pissed that I was robbed of a Titans cover that I had considered a winner at halftime so that ends my weekend with this and a zero balance in my sportsbook account.

Can someone please point out some flaws here or is this too obvious and can anyone relate with this and how they handled a similar situation that may have happened to them in the past? Thanks guys....

Your main flaw was you bet like 10 games in 24 hours. You bet that many games, your odds of having a profitable outcome are slim to none.

this is what scares me. maybe i am a pussy, but the guys who this are happening to have thousands of posts, meaning they are seasoned vets. sounds to me like this is a hobby with many peaks and valleys. are you serious that every gambler goes through this no matter how careful?

You can't consume yourself with it. It should just be a fun hobby for you. If you're looking to make a living out of it, you're in it for the wrong reason. Lower your ammounts to even where if you're losing it's not impacting you financially. I know the feeling you are talking about and have been there recently after telling myself I'd never do it again. Good luck buddy.

Well said KB.Ask yourself before you bet big "Am I going to lose sleep over this tonight if I lose"and if yes,don't bet it.Spent all night trying to figure out how I was going to pay the man about 7 years ago and hadn't done it since.

most ppl like myself dont win @ gambling. 99% of ppl lose, i dont care what they say. I've won and lost tons of $$$ betting over the past 14 yrs. The thing is I never bet more than i can afford to lose. Also I dont chase. do I lose, yep. have I won? yes i have. The key for betting IMO is not to chase when down. Thats how ppl get buried.
