so do they run restrictor plate race in the daytona 500?? and isnt the point of racing to have the fastest car? Why make the cars slower. That to me defeats the purpose. Am i missing something??

i have no clue about restrictor plate races. i dont get it.

Restrictor plates are (and someone correct me if I am wrong I am by no means a mechanic or know much about engines at all) metal plates that are placed over the carburetor restricting the amount of outflow of air the engine puts out which cuts down the rpm's the engine can put out. It slows (restricts) the speed the car can achieve. They use the restrictor plates at Daytona and Talladega where they still run around 195-200 mph. If they didn't have restrictor plates they could probably run about 225-230 I would guess. I know Rusty Wallace who drives the #2 Miller Lite Dodge tested an unrestricted car over the offseason at Talladega and I think he said he got up to 227 mph!! He said there is no way he would get out on the racetrack with anyone else without restrictor plates on the cars on these 2 tracks!

i watched 1/2 hr of that race yesterday. Man it was horrible. 2 cautions and nothing exciting happend. Seemed really lame if u ask me

Yesterday's race sucked!! Road races are not my cup of tea just thought you might like it since they turned right most of the time. Fucking Dale Jr. wrecking on the 3rd fucking lap pissed me off pretty fucking good as well! Next Saturday night at Daytona is one of my favorite races. I love restrictor plate racing and imo under the lights at Daytona is pretty cool

only problem is i dont own wrangler jeans or cowboy boots or a cowboy hat. I dont drive a pickup truck either.

The only thing I own out of those is a pickup truck! I have an extra Dale Jr. hat you can wear and we can pick you up a Dale Jr. shirt or something. You can wear shorts if you want but if you want to check out the pits you will have to wear long pants and closed toed shoes.
