As we get older we sometimes begin to doubt our ability to "make a difference" in the world. May have told this story before....but a couple of years ago my wife and I were on vacation in Hilton Head, SC. We ate lunch one day at this little hole-in-the-wall Italian joint whose proprietor was obviously an Ohio St. Fuckeye fanatic. Had memorabilia all over the walls, etc. Had an outstanding meatball sandwich...but I digress...I went to the mens' room and at the bottom of the toilet bowl was painted a perfect Michigan blue and gold football helmet. Cracked me up.

I'm pretty sure I've said it before, but It's so flat here that I can watch my dog run away from home for three days.

You did say that, but it's still pretty funny. When I drive across western Oklahoma or west Texas, I'm always amazed when I can discern the curvature of the Earth. The people who have deep roots out there love it because of the wide open spaces. I gotta have a few trees and hills.
