-BC only 30 yards rushing in the 1st half...and benefitted from 2 Hokie turnovers and some very unfortunate penalties...Now they will have to earn what they get this half...as I see Coach Beamer making sure he gets his team back to playing discipline ball this half....Also, still have to remember BC has a walk-on FG Kicker who is playing in his first football game ever...Could pay dividends in the 2nd...

"BIG GAME PLAY"-CONF USA GAME OF THE MONTH: (7 Units)
SMU -4.5
-Today I am all over the Mustangs at home facing a teams coming off an emotionally draining home loss on national tv....The Mustangs also is coming off a close loss on the road..however, they were playing that one without their star QB Willis due to suspension....and do get him back for this one today...
Beside that, this game is between two teams that are simply going in opposite directions this year...and for Marshall, having to take it across country, isnt a good thing...especially when your facing a team that will surely get a big lift returning home after a 2 game road swing...
*Key Factor #1: SMU stout run defense vs Marshalls run offense.
SMU is #1 in the conf in defense against the run...allowing just 2.7 ypc, 82.8 ypg rushing per a game, and has just given up 4 rushing TDs on the season so far...Marshall, brings in the top ranked rush offense averaging 174.1 ypg, 4.9 ypc...but have just totalled 6 TDs on the year...
What gives the Mustangs an advantage in this one, is that the Herd doesnt possess a balance with their passing game which would prevent the Mustangs defense from stacking the line gearing up to stop RB Ahmad Bradshaw, the Herds only real consistant threat...The Herds passing offense is averaging just 142.4 ypg through the air...and have only recorded 5 passing TDs along with 5 Ints...Not Good!
Side Note: SMU's run defense held Utep to just 89 yards rushing...Tulane to just 33 yards, and Ark St to just 59 yards rushing...Solid!
Side Note: SMU's defense also leads the league in both sacks (18) and tackles for loss (47).
*Key Factor #2: SMU balance off vs Marshalls pourous defense.
Marshall brings to this matchup a very poor scoring defense allowing over 30 ppg...Beside this, they also only have been able to snatch 2 interceptions on the year so far as well...The Herds defense also have allowed 233.8 passing yards per game...and 5.2 ypc to go along with the whopping 171.4 ypg on the ground they give up...Not Good!
The Mustang's offense have been making steady improvements on offense and now own the 4th best scoring offense in the conf averaging 27.2 ppg...They are ranked first in most passing TDs thrown with 15 and does bring in a solid 4.2 ypr average as well...
Side Note: In Marshall's last home game loss to UCF, their defense allowed a whopping 488 yards of total offense..including 275 yards rushing...to the Knights.
On the season....Marshall offense is clearly showing that they are no where near resembling the Offenses of the past...Currently they have recorded just 11 TDs and averaged just 317 yards...while their defense has allowed 18 TDs and allowed an average of 405.2 total yards to their opponents...
I am expecting the return of SMU QB Willis in this one...And with that, he brings in his solid stats of 12 TDs and 841 yards on 67.8 percent passing....and also his rushing stats that ranks him 2nd of the team with 145 rushing yards and three TDs....SMU the play, SMU at Home....Herds coming off very emotional loss and now must travel very far away from home and play with virtually no fan support....Today its all Mustangs!
