I am not a conspiracy theorist, but it seems boxing is all about $$$$...not belts ...it is about creating marketable matchups in a dying sport....(i.e. gatti/ward)

wayne-- winky landed 1 more power shot than taylor....Most of those shots hit glove....Taylor has furious power...if any of those landed flush on anyone it is lights out......Winky has good whiskers too......but boxing is about connections, not power......Supposed to be scored from connections...Easier said than done though......still has an effect on the judges...Also the louder the punch appears to be and the oohs and the ahhs....means he just hit more glove...and taylor hit alot of glove tonight.....For someone so powerful and big winky sure kept moving foreward...didn;t he???Originally posted by wayne1218Comment

Well, i'm no boxer but i watched the fight and Winky's punches were much weaker in my eyes. I think a draw in this fight is about right. I don't think the guys purposely did nothing in the 12th, they were just out of gas!
That fight certainly wasn't as clear cut as Wright thought it was. Lederman for HBO had it scored a Draw and i pretty much agree.Comment

anybody..(boxer or not) knows that winky is a boxer...not a power puncher....He usually outboxes/outpoints guys......I think the pace slowed, but i do not think they were out of gas per se.....they both demonstrated the ability to throw combinations.....I think that winky really thought he was ahead (hence him raising his arms after #11)......Even though winky's punches were weaker they count the same (or are supposed to) in the judging.....Originally posted by wayne1218

I also had it scored dead even like lederman...exact round for round......So even if compubox had winky outsluggin him (which he did) it matters not, since only 10 points per round can be awarded....So if winky outpunched him by 25 punches in 1 round and taylor outslugged him by 2 punches in another round....it makes no difference since it will be 19 - 19....So the punch count is really just for the fans.....

Winky might have "Thought" he had it won but anybody trying to take a tiitle from another man on HIS turf, HAS TO KNOW you can't assume the judges think like you do. You need to go take it ... And Winky didn't!Comment
