MLB Odds: Jays Host Yankees on Wednesday
This Wednesday, the Toronto Blue Jays and New York Yankees will kick off a three-game set in Toronto. New York holds a 2.5 game lead over the Tampa Bay Rays and is coming off of a series victory over the Boston Red Sox. While the Jays aren’t likely to recover from their 21-38 record to qualify for the postseason, they’ll be keen to perform against the storied Yankees.

Masahiro Tanaka is expected to be on the bump for the Yankees to open up the series. He’s put up a respectable 3.20 ERA over 12 starts this season, but gave up nine hits through six innings of work against the Padres in his last outing. New York is hoping to get star shortstop Didi Gregorius back from injury sometime during this road trip, so Toronto fans could see his first action of the season.
The Blue Jays will counter with lefty Clayton Richard. The veteran hasn’t faced the Yankees since 2008, so he’ll be primed to make an impact against the AL East rival. Richard has gone just four innings in both of his starts this season after returning from injury, but he’s watched his pitch count increase to 81 pitches in his last start, so we should expect the starter to stretch out against New York. Game time is scheduled for 7:07 PM ET.
